polymer revolver?

So as usual I was daydreaming about guns today and I thought "Wouldn't a polymer revolver be cool!?". Obviously this would be a CCW gun. It would be nice to have something closer in weight to the kel-tec etc but in a wheel gun. If it doesn't go bang you just keep pulling the trigger.

thoughts? Think it wil ever happen?

I don't think it will happen. The frame of a revolver takes a lot more stress than the polymer frame of a Semi-auto. Also you have the problem of flame cutting with the hot gases escaping between the cylinder and barrel. It's tough to get much lighter than a scandium framed Smith and Wesson with a titanium cylinder. Certainly there are some high tech engineering polymers that could do it but I don't think it would save you much if any weight over the scandium and titanium and it would likely end up being more expensive. Not to mention if you have ever shot a scandium frame S&W I'm not sure you would want it any lighter, recoil with 38 Special +P is very unpleasant and the 357 Mag is down right nasty.

I don't think flame cutting would be an issue. They could simply install a small steel insert in that area. However, I agree with MCB the light revolvers are already too light in my opinion. I've actually seen them draw blood after only a few shots(very hard on the hands).
