New H&K USP-C owner has questions
So I got a good deal on a new 9MM so I picked one up. It's blued with 3 13-round mags and night sites. I have a few question though.....
1. Why are my mags stamped "RESTRICTED LAW ENFORCEMENT/GOVERNMENT USE ONLY". Is this from the high-cap ban **** that has since expired? I thought they would have already sold through all of those. 2. How do I figure out what variant it is? Someone told me you can figure it out by the serial number... but couldn't remember which digit it was that told you the variant. 3. What is that notch on the right rear side of the frame just under the slide. It has a small white line/dash? 4. How can I tell if mine has the LEM trigger system? 5. Any other tidbits of info would that would help? |

1. You are correct the stamped mags were made during the ban.
2. I think most are variant 1's. You can tell by this chart: http://www.hkpro.com/uspc.htm Just scroll to the bottom. 3. That's so the safety/decocker can be installed on the right side. (If your's is on the left it isn't an even numbered variant.) 4. I'm not sure how to tell. I've read that the LEM has a longer pull and shorter reset. I'm pretty sure the LEM conversion removes the manual safety (XD style) 5. Only trust factory HK mags. 6. Wanna trade for a USP full sized 45?

2. Most are V1s, followed by the LEM trigger modules (the LEM is not one of the 9 variants, it is a different variant altogether that they didn't number).
4. If you have a safety or decocker, you don't have the LEM trigger. Variant 7 doesn't have a safety or decocker but it is a true DAO with only the heavy trigger pull, as opposed to the LEM which is DAO with a lightened DAO pull if the slide is racked. Good find though, I'm sure you'll be satisfied. Get some night sights!

Saw 1 at the gun show today for $655. Then again, if I had gone SPECIFICALLY for that gun, by the time I would have paid gas and the entrance fee, it was the same as my local price |

I have the stainless slide .45 version. Excellent gun. I agree with only trusting HK mags. Watch CDNN sports website for deals. I purchased two extra mags for my pistol for $25 each a while back. Most places I have found sell them for $40. If I hadn't already owned my XD-9 Service, I would have purchased a 9mm like you did. You won't be disappointed with a HK, accurate, reliable, simple to maintain and comfortable to shoot and carry. Enjoy.

Doesn't Pistol Gear have a spectacular deal on Hk mags right now? I think they are selling them for only 10 dollars, and they are the real deal. I saw this a week or two ago so they might already be gone.

I've ordered mags from Cal's Sporting Armory 2x now - Good place - The 10 rd mags were only $7.99 - I think they just bumped up the compact USP mags a $1 or 2, but I have been happy with them.
It is nice to have high caps, but 10 or 13 rounds isn't much different. So, i saved a few $. |
