My H&R Sportsman 999

Here is my H&R Sportsman 999

It's a 9 shot .22, double action top break revolver.
I've had it since the early 80s, fun fun fun!

These are real decent revolvers. I've had a couple of the 999's, with both 4 & 6 inch barrels. They can be surprisingly accurate.

Even the little swing-out snubs on this pattern can be decent shooters.

Nice revolver, Hobo!

I had one waaaay back when. It was my camping/backpacking firearm. I carried it many, many miles and never-ever needed it.

I probably bought mine about the same time you got yours.

I remember I had to have a guy at the local shoe repair shop build a holster for it. This was pre one-size-fits-all nylon holster days.

It was a good shooter and I spent many afternoons busting cans with it. I traded it for another handgun. I can't remember what, it must not have been very exciting. Because I remember the little H&R but not the trade.

Thanks Hobo... much appreciated. Momma gets credit for however good it is, and her only weakness is that she don't nag me enough sometimes. I need to get my butt in gear and finish a few more articles that are 'almost ready'

I've got a little H&R 922. No idea when it was made. You have to remove the pin and the cylander to extract and reload. no idea of year though.

I have the same HR, but the hammer was broken and now is missing. Anybody have any idea where I could find a new hammer?

Mine died and they told me to just throw it away. Got it out again for gigles a couple months back and it worked! I think the hammer might be hitting a little light though.
