'Nother new toy: Baby Eagle 9mm Compact
I have been sort of lusting after this for a couple of years and decided to just get one. Very good idea!
I got the steel frame Compact, which came with a single 10 round mag from Sportsman's Warehouse in Spokane WA at $400 before tax (marked $435 on the tag, rang up at $400). They had polymer frame models on hand too, but since I have a bunch of polymer pistols I wanted to try the original steel frame that I had heard so many good things about. This is a clone of the CZ75 internally and most of the external, with some pleasing cosmetic shape changes. Built in Israel and imported by Magnum Research. There are many long winded reviews on the web so I'll do a short one. I like the short grip. With the mag base the little finger is nicely compressed up into the other fingers so it forces a firm grip. It is heavy and recoil is really comfortable. For the sight picture is is a low 6 o'clock to bounce around bottles 15-25 yds. which means you always see the target and it was easy to get used to. Trigger in double action is heavy, and more than safe. In single action it feels very light. I had a double tap that impressed my buddy until I confessed it was inadvertent. I was used to other triggers and this one felt very light so I did a measurement tonight. Cheap and almost free I used a Gatorade bottle and a piece of steel welding rod. I bent the rod to stay on the trigger, go around the frame and form a hook. On the hook I hung the bottle. I weighed this at work on a decent scale and got 2.2 oz. Then I started filling it with 155 gr. .40 cal bullets until the trigger tripped. Count the bullets, add the fixture weight and 63.9 oz or just about exactly 4 lbs. I was a bit surprised at how light 4 lbs can feel on a trigger. But overall this is a very nice pistol for the $400 range, I would have felt good paying more. But I have a bit of a pistol thing so take that with a grain of salt (and a beer or two). |

I've looked a those a couple of times and had to repulse the urge to grab the credit card.
Don: how do you like Pullman? I'll be heading out that way to start at WSU in about 2 months. |

I like it. I came here in 1979 and have never earned enough money to move away.
I do like it. Pretty laid back area, lots of upland bird hunting, whitetail and muledeer. Hot summer days but usually cool nights, sometimes a serious winter. Nothing is really in Pullman but lots of things are close. We can go shooting - butloads of pistols, .50BMG rifle, a couple of ARs and you can try my Baby Eagle too! |

I love the look and feel of the "Jericho" (Baby Eagle in this country):
http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapo...o/Jericho.html I couldn't believe how heavy it was though.
