I've been looking at the exact same gun...probably will be my next pistol. I've dryfired a PT111 in a store (same trigger) and it's a VERY VERY NICE DAO. I handled the PT145 in another store (they refused to take off the trigger lock), and loved the feel. I've yet to hear a single bad thing about the Mil Pro's.

I almost bought one last weekend. 10 rounds of 45 in a package a little bigger than a Kel Tec P11. The trigger is much lighter than a P11 since it has a manual safety. Only reason I didn't get it was that I already have a 45 and I was looking at the P3AT for something even smaller for summer wear.

I have the 24/7 in 9mm 24/7 in 45acp the PT-140 MP qnd the PT-145 MP.
Love them all. The PT-145 is the proper grip and size for me. I have small hands and cannot grip any double stacked 9mm, 40 S&W or 45acp except for the Taurus models and the XD's. I have just over 800 rounds thru the 145 with 40 of them my carry ammo and not one hiccup. The same goes for the rest of them the 24/7's each have at least 1000 rounds without any questions and the 140 has around 70o rounds w/o a problem. Not saying I won't, as all mechanical things good bad once in awhile. I do trust them enough for carry purpose. Take down is easy, and there are enough holsters out there that you will not have to worry. Good luck in your quest. |

Thanks guy. EME how would you describe the DAO trigger of the Pt145 MP versus an XD? I don't want a hard pull and that's the only thing that would stop me from getting a Mil Pro. It felt really good in my hand.

The gun is nice except I don't like the long, creepy trigger. it does get a little better with age however. The gun has failed to fire on my in several occasions. The pin just wouldn't lite off the round unless I pulled it two or three times on the same bullet. Granted they were cheaper ammo (winchester and wolf) but I fed those same rounds through the XD45 with no hickup. The XD trigger is 500% better than the Taurus. I do like the subcompact Taurus 45 but for me it's not a Class A firearm.
One thing that affects some people on this pistol is that some people they way they hold it; their thumb hits the mag release button and it falls out when shooting. I didn't have this problem at all but some do. I've read this and know two people that had to sell theirs because of this.

I like the price, and the size! Its just trigger that is just holding me back from buying it!

couldn't you get a trigger job on a DAO pistol? I know you can do it on 1911's.

As for the trigger compared to an XD. IMHO you canot compare a DAO trigger with a SA trigger. There's just no way. I think the XD has a better trigger by far, BUT you have to understand that I use my firearms for CCW. I do not think that if I had to pull and fire the gun to protect my love ones or me that I will even feel the difference. If all you do is target shoot, then yes I think you can and will feel a difference. Basically 90% of my shooting at the range is the timer goes off, draw and shoot at the various types of targets we have up. Last Sunday I was shooting my sp101 2 1/8" with several reloads of 357 and 38 +p, my 3914 and my 24/7 9mm. With the Sp101 I could not keep 5 out of 5 on the target, sometimes 3 sometimes 2 at 20', With the 24/7 it was 14 out of 15, or better, using point shooting and with the 3914, using the double action it was 8 for 8 or 7 for 8. All three were being shot double action. ?????? I'm usually better with the revolver, but Sunday was a different day. I think you will not be sorry if you do find a PT model that you like, but like the message above, make sure it is the M Pro. They even have a 24/7 which is SA until a no fire then it reverts back to DA to fire off the last bullet. You should go to the Taurus web site and look at the commercial for the 24/7. It is impressive. Good Luck.
