A New Family Member .... Pics to come

Will post a pics when batteries charge. Picked up a Rock Island Officer's 45 today at a local show. Haven't shot it yet, but will soon. Can someone point me to a good info place on disassembly. Seems the manual got left out of it somewhere along the line. I remember seeing it when I was looking at it, but it's not here when I got home. $365 out the door with a box of ammo

I was torn between this or a Mossberg 500 with pistol and the new flash suppressor. I was going to be able to get that for $300 out the door, but I waited too long to make a decision

I'll let ya know as soon as I can get the damn thing apart! It is a Commander/Officer's size 1911 and appears to have a full length guide rod. No matter that I do, I cannot depress the recoil spring plug. Someone mentioned over there on 1911forum.com "A lot of Officer's models have a reverse recoil spring plug. You have to push the slide back till the disassembly notch lines up and remove the slide stop. Then the slide will slide off the frame. I hope this is what you are talking about."

I really need some help, please.

Can a mod move this to gunsmithing or something now so I can get help?

Maybe try this instruction manual for the Auto Ordnance
http://stevespages.com/pdf/autoord_1911.pdf
They start out with the slide coming off first

or take a look at the various other .45 styles and maybe something will work better?

I took it to the range yesterday, determined to shoot it clean or not. A guy there actually knew what he was talking about and showed me how to get it down. The guide rod has a little hole in it, stick a paper clip in it to stop the slide, then push out the slide latch. Viola! It's apart.

Man that thing shot like a dream! So much better than the XD40SC that I had. Where you point, it shoots, period. I am so pleased with my new purchase. Now ... to get some pics in here....
