shot my first glock yesterday

Seeing how I was first going to purchase a glock before I decided to go to the XD, yesterday I finally got to shoot a glock. My sisters new boyfriend is a sheriff's deputy, and he brought his gun up with him when they came to visit. It was a glock 22 C, compensated. I must say, I actually liked it. I had no preconceived feelings toward hating a glock anyway, so I had no reason to not like it if it shot well. It was very accurate, and naturally being a compensated gun recoil was light. One thing I took note on, was the trigger.

I was with my dad 2 lanes down shooting and I heard him off to the right popping off rounds quite a bit faster than I could with my XD. So I eventually wandered down and asked if I could shoot it. Wow, I loved the trigger on it. I couldn't believe how quick it was. He said it's totally stock, nothing has been done to it. I was able to fire off shots so quick I was amazed! I had no clue what to expect when I fired it first. Hadn't ever dry fired a glock or anything to know what the trigger feels like. I just imagine that's what my XD would feel like with a trigger job.. I'd hope!

When I first began looking for a new gun, I was going with glock to begin with (not because everyone and their dog has one), but because my good friend has all sorts of brands of guns and he loves his glocks. I never did find the thicker grip, or angle of the grip to feel really weird to me. I actually liked it, just as much as I do the XD. All I know is I was accurate with the gun, and the trigger was awesome.

Now, that being said I must say that I shot my XD really well that day. Several times I made a big hole toward the center of the target. Most of my shots were within a 3 inch group. So, my groups are getting tighter every time I go shoot. Now I just wonder if I should get a trigger job on it, or leave it as it is since this is going to mainly be my home defense gun. Anyway at least now I am not in the dark on the whole XD vs Glock war. I can now say I like them both pretty equally.

Actually the whole Glock/XD thing is nonsense. Basically it happens because there is a passing resemblance. Two years ago when I was looking for a new pistol the XD was dubbed gun of the year by Gander Mountain and the price was much lower. I ended up with 2 XDs and nearly 3,000 posts on this forum
I've fired a Glock 19 and a 26 in the past. Both are excellent pistols and I wouldn't mind one at all.

I second that- the whole glock - XD thing is crazy ! both are excellent guns and either way someone went - they would come out a winner. I just prefer the Xd to the glock.... And I love my glock 21- so that just says alot for my XD. I also prefer my XD to my sig. But that doesn't take anything away from sig- sig makes a good firearm thats used all over the world...

I'll third that.....the whole Glock vs. XD is bullspit!

I like both but it just so happens that I can shoot a Glock much better than an XD!

+1 on loving the trigger! Just imagine if you would customize one! There are ALOT of options to get the trigger where you want it!

I am eventually gonna try a 3.5# connector with a NY1 trigger spring to see how it feels!

Glocks and XD's are just guns. That's all. They're both good. The reason I've got an XD is because the salesman was smart enough to show me one. I had never really thought about them; I actually went in with the idea of buying either a Ruger 94 I think it was, or a CZ-100. The salesman handed me the XD, which was at least $100.00 more than the other two. I liked it, I had the money, I got it. If he had handed me a Glock, I might have bought that instead.

I also can't believe all the hype about the two different grip angles. They're just grips. The human hand is very adaptable. I've got a Ruger 22/45, and a Ruger standard Mk II. The two grips on those are pretty close to the XD and the Glock. I don't have any trouble picking up either of them and shooting them. Or a Colt SAA for that matter. They're just different.

i find it odd u liked the glock trigger better. personally it feels like plastic Lego parts connected to a spring compared to the crisp break of the XD. the glocks are what generally need the trigeer job not the XD. although im told even with a trigger job, glock trigs still feel like a sponge. however, i plan to ad a glock 17 to the colection soon.
