No kidding. The P226 feels very different and does not have the top-heavy solid slide of the newer SIGs. If you have shot an older P226...you know how sweet these things are. Low on recoil and very accurate.
I have two other police trade in pistols and the night sights on both glow very well. One was made in 1994 and again...its as bright as it can be. Even if they're dim, CDNN sells SIG replacements for cheap. Man...my wife is going to kill me! I am not usually an impulse buyer and I am trying to talk myself out of buying one of these to go with my P228 and P225. I thought 1911s were bad about spawning companions! LOL - brickboy240 PS: this is the pistol that the Navy SEALs and British SAS carries

Yeah in all honesty they're both screaming deals.
A few years ago, bot the Sig Pro and the P226 were 600-800 dollar guns on a good day. We are blessed with some screaming deals on new and slightly used service guns...are we not? - brickboy240

I've seen P228s that are West German priced at $550 to $650 on other forums. I should have waited and spent the extra money on a nicer gun. On the other hand, I bought a 3rd hand P6 recently that was a Grade 1 which is in really good condition, paid extra for it but its 1990+ so its ok for JHP. Bought it from the original purchaser after it was imported. James in Denver EDIT: Can someone explain the difference between the P228s and these P226s besides the 0.4" longer barrel? Do they shoot better or do you just get a longer barrel? I'm trying to decide if I need / want one. Last edited by james in denver; 11-06-2009 at 06:12 PM. |

Is there a big concern about the the slide rails of these being worn out due to lack of lube? I have considered buying a Sig for awhile. The only one in my collection is a Mosquito. Plus everyone talks great about the P226

If the pistol pictured in the ad is any indicator than no, looking at the finish on the chamber these pistols haven't been fired much and I am sorry to have to decline on one of these. If these were 239's in 9mm I would snap one up in a heartbeat!

Sigs have a real coating, don't be fooled! That wear is likely from about 1,000 rounds or so. My XD(m) had about 10x that much wear in the first 100...1,000 isn't really all that much though, they are almost broken in is all.
