How many failures have you had with your sigma?

I've never fired a sigma but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy (or fire) the cheapest autoloader that S&W makes. I would however assume that it would be reliable as it's made by S&W. A couple of friends own them and their big gripe is holster availability.

Buds Guns has them new for $300 shipped plus S@W has a $50 mail in rebate going on right now. I have owned two of them over the years. Yes they do have an ungodly trigger from the factory but they can be litened up. If you do a search someone gave detailed instruction as how to do so awhile back. I never has a single issue with this weapon as far as reliability.

The early guns certainly had their issues but the later ones, not so much. The trigger is a bit like Glocks NY trigger.

I have a Sigma in the .40 caliber and think it's a fine gun for what it is. I believe it to be a very safe gun and I have no accuracy problems, even with the longer trigger pull, but I have put countless rounds through it, so I really shouldn't have problems with it.
IMO the Sigma is NOT junk. It was made for a specific purpose, that being an offering in the economy pistol market. Yes, lots of folks don't like the trigger but if you are willing to spend some time and target rounds, I would bet anyone could get used to the trigger pull. The trigger is a long pull similar to a revolver's, because basically that's what it amounts to. As I understand it, you can send your Sigma back to S&W and they will 'fix' the trigger pull for free. I haven't sent mine in for that, so I can't speak from personal experience but I have sent my gun in on one occasion and I can say that their customer service is top notch. |

Thanks for all the input guys. I really dont need this pistol but I have been known to buy guns I dont need for the right price. The only reason I considered it was because of the price and after looking last night I see that $200 is not as good as it sounded.

I have a friend who has one in 9mm, it seems to be reliable, he's had it a few years and no jams or failures of any kind and all he shoots is the cheapest ammo he can get his hands on. That being said, we shoot together and he can't hit the broadside of a barn with it and neither can I.

My Sigma does what I ask of it and its a great truck/working gun. Not so pricey so that if it gets messed up, it would be the end of the world or something. You pull the trigger, it goes bang..every time. Yes the trigger sucks, but they do make trigger kits for them so that is curable. I have noticed the accuracy deal a time or two. My reloads shoot much better than factory, so I have negated that to a great degree. Still, with Blazer Brass, I was able to shoot 6" steel at 35 yds and hit what I aimed at with reasonable accuracy...not great or exceptional..just reasonable. I have noted on many occasions that I shoot other pistols much better than the Sigma, butthen I got it as a truck gun, not a plinker. I should have a Sig on the way for that.

take the few minutes to remove the spring and convert the un-godly trigger pull to something more befitting. Early Sigma's had problems, newer ones are just fine. My friend has fired 1500+ rounds out of his without a hiccup. It isn't a pretty gun, but it works every time. If you modify the trigger pull, it's a great little gun.
