Took the M&P 15-22 to the range after a good cleaning and lube. I started with the same Remington Golden Bullets that I was using before. Still had the same problem. Then I switched mags to one loaded with Bulk Federal. This worked flawlessly. Then I switched to some Aguila High Velocity. That ran through pretty well, but it did still stove pipe twice. Lastly, I switched to some CCI Mini Mags. These were awesome. Not a single problem. Come to the conclusion that there is a slight difference in the length and diameter of the Remington. The brass is a 1-2 millimeters shorter and the diameter is just a tick larger. The irony is that the Remington is what my pistols like to eat, as well there was not problem with the 2 GSGs. Anyway lesson learned.
After I was able to get it right the little 15-22 was amazing and performed to standard. Now to be able to find more of the CCI in my area.

Remington Golden Bullets have been documented to be garbage. A friend had some, so I helped him blast them out. My Marlin is flawless when clean, and I had 7 stovepipes, 4 duds, a handful of other jams, and crap for accuracy. Yeah, I do NOT like them. Federal bulk it has given me ONE stovepipe, but I had put about 1,500 through it without cleaning... I know I know... Same for the Win bulk.

Fed bulk and CCI are awesome. Golden bullets are trash. My experience with the sig .22 mosquito told me all I need to know.

In fact all remington 22 ammo is garbage in a semi auto. They worked fine in a bolt action. I stick with federal 510s in my semi auto 597. Shoots like a dream. It likes to run dry. Ditch the ammo and get federal 510s or if you really want to see accuracy wolf match. Hit up rimfirecentral.com and go into the forums and look for the ammo section. You will learn alot. I mean ALOT! People do lots of testing and the remmy 22 ammo is junk in a semi auto rimfire.

Edit: CCI mini mags rock!

I won't argue the fact that a semi needs lube. However, if I found that I had to lube one of my semi pistols or rifles every 50~100 rounds to ensure trouble free operation, I would get rid of it. I routinely put about 1000 rounds through my XD9 or XD45 during a 4 day training weekend. The only attention it gets during that time is.... ummm...... ahhhhhhh...... well.... it gets put into the holster every time I am done shooting it. I recently finished a 2 day Appleseed shoot with my 15-22. It ate ~400 rounds and was still running well at the end of the 2nd day. Granted, that is not a very high round count, but it was the 1st time I had it to the range other than to zero the scope. The 10/22 it replaced was just as reliable.

Good report on the 15/22. I have some different ammo I am going to try. I know the MiniMags work well. Got some High Velosity Winchester now.

Not every .22 semi needs lube. Most but not all. Like I said the remmy 597 likes to run dry, if lubed its more prone to FTF and FTE. I have had only one FTE in some 800 rounds fired. If you go to the rimfirecentral site and hit the 597 section you will see the majority run theirs dry. Im just trying to clear up that not ALL semis need to be lubed but most do.

Did you see the M&P 15-22 review on my site? It includes some of the ammo I've ran through it.

I was looking at a M&P 15-22, but went with this instead. It cost me $390 out the door. It's a Kel-Tec SU22.

Out of the box.

After mods including B.S.A. 40mm red dot scope, colapsable vertical grip, and flash hider (for looks)
