Used to have an 1897 "Black Diamond" Trap, but sold it many years ago.

Looked like this one. Mine didn't have the rib like the fancier grades.

for a shotgun the rules are 18" barrel and 26" over all length

it came with it, sorry i dont know where to get one but its just screwed in there so drill a smaller pilot hole (2 on each side) and then just screw it on

An AOW (any other weapon) can never have a buttstock installed on it. If one were to install a buttstock, it would be a shoulder fired weapon. The whole point of AOW is to not have that.

edit to add: if you ever would want to install a buttstock, just SBS it. (short barrel shotgun). You can install longer barrels onto them if you'd like, but it doesn't work that way with AOW's.

YES YOU CAN PUT A PISTOL GRIP ON ANY SHOTGUN as long as the overall length is 26"

the pistol grip only thing is for an AOW which is an AOW because it has a barrel shorter then 18" or an overall length of 26" and came from the factory with a pistol grip. so since it comes from the factory with a pistol grip only and the short barrel its technically a smooth bore pistol which is covered as an AOW

frenchy, I have an inthica feather weight (working on finding the history it was my grandfathers). the part I do not like is it is a 28inch barrel =(

and it is in far worse condition than the example below...

The barrel length would be a problem for defense purposes, but you should be able to find another one to shorten.
The nice (cool) thing about the older Ithaca's is there ability to "slam-fire".
