Thumbs down Savage 93r17 magazine problems

So i got my gun, and i loaded the clip. Wont feed with 5 rounds and it has to be justright with 4. Got some different ammo and put the mag in and it all flies right out. Should i call savage or what should i do?

Must be one of those crap savages we have heard about recently!

I would call Savage. I am sure they will make it right.

Sounds like a mag with bent feed lips. Simple fix, you can try to bend it back yourself, but you need to take it slow or just call Savage for a replacement. They sure aren't going to call you

typical feeding issues with them. let me guess the ammo you have trouble feeding was either the CCI speer TNT, hornady XTP, or winchester Vmax?

You can order new mags here: MidwayUSA - Savage Arms Magazine Savage 90 Series Magnum 17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire (HMR), 22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR) 5-Round Stainless Steel

I just picked up a gently used 93r17 yesterday - the mags do seem a bit stiff, but I was able to get 5 rounds in with only a small effort on the last round.

Check out rimfirecentral.com

I have that same rifle with no mag issues but its definitely not uncommon. Those guys over there can tell you exactly what you need to do to getting working right.

If the rounds are just popping out when you load it (it happened with one of my mags) just bend the feed lips in a little and you should be back in business.

Federal hp speer 17 grain and hornafay vmax is all i have. Both have to be perfect to feed and the hp's fly out when i put the mag in . bent the feed lips a little bit, seems to work a little better. Still gonna call savage when they come back.
