Woo Hoo... They are still out there

Just had that feeling today, so after work I picked my son up from daycare and drove down to one of the local pawn shops I deal with to see what they had put out this week.

Saw it as soon as I walked through the door, bottom slot, third row. Asked to see it. Got it in my hands, looked it over, looked at the price tag. Asked Bubba for the little bore light he keeps under the counter, turned it on and looked down the bore... what a beautiful, damn near perfect sight.

Did the obligatory haggling, put a small amount down, walked out knowing its mine...

A $125 NORINCO SKS

it needs the cleaning rod and bayonet, but cleaning rods are easy to find and I have about 20 or so correct spike bayonets in my closet.

So guys, always check and support your local pawn shops because they do turn up :P

Nice find! I have always debated going into a pawn shop but never have. All the local ones are across the river in KY, I can't buy guns there with an Ohio ID

Good find at a great price. The bore ought to be fine...all Norincos had chromed bores. The Chinese SKS is a fine shooter. I have a mid 60s Chinese military SKS and it looks terrible but shoots as good as my nearly new Russian SKS.

Pawn shops are always worth checking from time to time. True, theres lots of overpriced stuff and basket cases, but I have pulled a few screaming deals out of pawn shops. Bring in cash and beat them down. Chance are, they took in every gun for a third of what they're asking...maybe less. Cash talks.

After a few buys, they'll get to know you and know that you expect a good price and always pay cash and you CAN get some deals. Its a mixed bag...but overall..pawnshops can be worth the effort. The more you know about what you're looking at/for....the better postition you will be in with a pawn broker.

Yeah the bore is flawless, this pawn shop I try to check at least once a week and the main manager knows what I look for and knows typically about what I am going to pay for a certain piece. Its good for them to know you as well.
