Strictly speaking in an IPSC sense of the shooting sports, 9 Major and .38 Super/Super Comp is only in Open. In Limited/L-10, .40 S&W rules the roost due to the rules (Minimum bullet diameter to make major in L-10, Limited, and Single Stack 1911 is .40). 45 in production is a moot point since 1911's are not legal for that division (9mm minor rules the roost there). The .45 seems to be more prevalent in IDPA (there's a class requires a .45 caliber handgun). After sorting through the brass at from a USPSA Section match where I worked a stage, the majority of the brass was 9mm and .40, then .38 Super/Super Comp, not much .45 to be had (comparatively speaking).
Just my measly C-Class observations.
