Glock 26 vs. S&W M&P 9c Q's

This post serves two purposes:

First, I want to get some opinions on the G26 and the M&P9c as these are the guns my wife likes and I know pretty much nothing about them. We've done the trips to the store to feel both, and both feel great to her. The G26 is about 2 oz. lighter than the M&P, so I'm thinking she'll go with the 26 (weight will be important because I have gotten to the point that I am not comfortable with her going places without a piece and she can't comfortably carry my full size pistols). The capacity difference is, for the most part, a non-issue. So, what are your opinions on the two guns? If you are a lady carrying one or the other, I definitely want to hear your thoughts! How is the recoil on the 26/M&P compared to a full size 9mm?

Second, I did a search on this topic and found almost nothing useful. So, this should serve to better complete the comparisons available for future users.

Thanks!

I'll say go with the glock 26. I have a G 19, G 26 and a XD 9 SC, and my wife love my G26 it is her favorite when se goes to the range. I shoot once a M&P 40C it felt good, but prefer the Glock more compact, lighter,
easy to stip and clean.
M&P U have to pull out a stick and then move a lever to release the slide,,
looks to complicated. The thing that I like in M&P is U can swicht grips, I like the look, the style, the frame, but for me Glock is better.

The XD 9 sc is too blocky and the grip is uncomfortable for my wife - she doesn't like it and wouldn't carry it. Also, it weighs more than the G26 so I can't consider it.

Takedown doesn't matter too much to me as I will most likely always be present when my wife cleans it. I'm more concerned with recoil, concealability, useability and that my wife will be carrying this gun so it has to be one she will stick with.

I'm thinking I'll go with the G26 but if there is any other input, I'd like to hear it.

I'd rather have the G26. Great gun for the size. I wouldn't own one since I think it's too small (all the subcompacts, not just Glock), but if I had to the G26 would be at the top of the list.

I personally like the M&P 9C better than a Glock. I have owned a G30SF and a G27. I got rid of both of them after I had polished the actions and tremendously improved them. I also rounded the triggerguards on both of them and slightly relieved the triggerguards. I never did like the Glock trigger even after all that was done. I also had to rework the extractor on the G30SF as it was constantly hitting me in the head with spent brass. On Glock Talk you will find many examples of ejection problems with recently produced pistols. You will also find examples of guns that have been sent back to Glock and still had problems when returned. I much prefer the feel of the grip on the 9C and the trigger feel. I also have the model with the manual safety. When carrying full size I carry a 1911 and my miniscule carry is a Sig P238. All of these guns have a manual safety. It is best when all your self defense weapons have the same manual of arms. That is if one has a thumb safety which must be moved down to fire, all should have a thunb safety which must be moved down to fire. When things go bump in the night you will revert to muscle memory if you have worked to develop it. If not you are really in trouble.

A G26 Gen4 is my constant companion. I started off carrying a XDsc, and it's a brick compared to the G26.

My wife loves it, and shoots it well. When she gets her CHL, I may have to buy another, or will just get the G27 or G36.

Capacity can be increased with either a Pearce grip, or slap a G19 mag. in it with and Xgrip spacer (similar the the SA spacer, but softer).

Me personally, just can't see how you could go wrong with the G26. Get it in a Gen4. No backstrap, will make the grip 3mm smaller, perfect for a females hand, and I prefer it too.

I love both but I have to give the edge to the M&P. IMO the M&P is much more lady friendly. I had a G26 for a while and I think its noticeably more snappy than my M&P9c and doesn't feel as good in the hand. The G26 does have a slight advantage as far as size goes though.

My girlfriend has shot both and said she likes the M&P A LOT more.

The M&P9c has less felt recoil than a lot of full size guns out there IMO.

Edit: 1000th post baby! lol

I would suggest looking at the M&P Sheild! surprised it has been mentioned yet.

I carry my wife's G26 often, it inspired my G19 purchase. I sold my xd sc 40 because the glock in my opinion is much more concealable. I don't have any input on the m&p other than hold a couple of them. Didn't like the trigger in the store though.
