LCP safety

I have an opportunity to get a new LCP, which I'd like to use for pocket carry, but I have a few questions.

Obviously, there is no safety, just the heavy pull weight of the trigger--and probably a pocket holster to prevent the trigger from getting pulled.

Do you guys think that's safe enough?

I guess I'm spoiled by my XD...the grip safety makes me feel lots safer!

states: "They argue that the Second Amendment's words "right of the people" mean "a right of the state" — apparently overlooking the impact of those same words when used in the First and Fourth Amendments. The "right of the people" to assemble or to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures is not contested as an individual guarantee. Still they ignore consistency and claim that the right to "bear arms" relates only to military uses. "

should be fine as long as you dont put the booger hook on the boom switch when you handle the weapon

Like most DAO's there is a substantial trigger pull necessary to fire the gun. So long as you don't alter the firing characteristics by reducing the trigger pull needed to fire the gun and so long as you holster the gun to preclude any snags of the trigger it is perfectly safe.

I carry one in my pocket lots of times and never worry that it will discharge without my assistance.

Same here - I use the quickdraw pocket clip on my P3AT all the time. I just make sure the pistol is the ONLY thing in the pocket I carry it in and I draw by pinching the grip with my thumb on the inside and my index finger under the clip end on the outside and raise it straight up and out of my right hip pocket. It works pretty snazzy. When the gun is drawn that way I'm in a perfect ready position with my thumb around the grip and my index finger laying straight along the slide outside of the trigger guard but ready to fire anytime. My middle finger and ring finger follow the index finger as the gun is being drawn up and out of my pocket and naturally fall into place on the grip. I practice it all the time with the gun unloaded. When the P3AT is in my pocket with that quickdraw clip it looks more like a knife than a gun.

You are doing all the right stuff, just make sure to use a pocket holster.

I have a KelTec P3AT and it also has a loooong heavy trigger pull. When I carry in a holster (usually pocket holster) I will have one in the pipe, but I carry with an empty chamber when using the belt clip. I feel that is plenty safe.

I should have clarified that - I do the same.

Put it in a 10 dollar Uncle Mike's sidekick pocket holster and drop it in your front pocket. I carry a LCP that way daily with 6+1. As previously stated, as long as ya keep your booger hook off the boom switch, you are good to go. No different than carrying a double action revolver fully loaded.

But yeah, the XD spoils ya, I carry my service 45 in a supertuck on all but the hottest days and would rather have it than the LCP. But the LCP in a front pocket, even khakis or slacks totally disappears

The LCP should be perfectly safe to carry with 1 in the pipe. Since a DAO does not leave the striker fully cocked, I actually feel more comfortable carrying my PF-9 chambered that I would my XD (just my paranoia, probably).

Just exercise proper trigger finger discipline and you should have no worries.

+1 on the pocket holster.
