This is a discussion on Sig P225 within the Non-XD Handguns forums, part of the Other Handgun Talk category; I guess I should have clarified that more, just on the other forum I'm a part of there is a big stink about the P6/P225 ...

I guess I should have clarified that more, just on the other forum I'm a part of there is a big stink about the P6/P225 thing. I have had it run into me to call them P6's, but yes a P6 is just the military and police designation just as the M9(Beretta 92) and M11(Sig P22 is here in the US. The only difference I've heard of is the feed ramp is different and the hammer is different. As far as the feed ramp though, I've seen some newer P6's with the good feed ramp, but they are not too common. And with the hammer, all the P6's have a notch cut in the hammer. Of course most have markings on the side of the slide and some on the frame, but most markings that I have seen are from the importers.

Yes Mags are getting a good dollar amount. Makes me want to put some of mine up for sale, I have 10 of them and paid $15 apiece for them. They all have Sig Sauer on the mag. The Promags are a controversy though. I have 3 for my P6's. 2 have worked fine with a few hundred rounds apiece. The third though has given me several fits. I also have had problems with the promags in the 1911's I used to shoot. I guess it just boils down to what you like while shooting.

how much do you want for 2 or three sig mags? i snoozed, and i loozed. I had some bookmarked, with some other stuff i wanted, didnt order quickly and they all dried up. Much faster than i though anyways. Bastids. I only wanted to pay shipping once, waited while i hemmed and hawed on they other junk, and the frickin' p6 mags went bye bye

I have heard about the feed ramp difference, but I still question its validity. Why? Well, according to the photos on Sig Forums, that show the difference in feed ramps, my 1981 Swiss P225 has the older ramp...the one that supposedly won't feed hollowpoints.

However, I ran a few mags of 147gr SXTs, 115gr Silvertips and 135gr Hydra-Shoks through the pistol and not one jam. I probably ran 5-6 mags total. All hardball feeds well too. In fact, the thing has never jammed...typical SIG...just shoots and shoots.

Even if yours did balk at hollowpoints, you COULD buy a few boxes of that Cor Bon Pow'r Ball ammo and not worry about defensive ammo jamming. The Pow'r Ball stuff has the profile of a fmj and will feed in any 9mm pistol.

Later on, you could buy a lightly used P225 barrel wih the different ramp nd have it fitted. Not overly expensive or the end of the world.

...food for thought.

I've never had one of my P6's jam yet that wasn't caused by one Promag. Course I don't shoot HP's either. I don't know if it's as common of a problem as some have said though, sometimes as we all know if one person has a problem, 20 people they've told say they had the same problem but never actually experienced it. Hence me having so many different Promags. I heard about them and even had problems with them in the past with my old 1911's. But I heard enough good things to buy one for my P6's. I had nothing but good luck with it so I ordered 2 more figuring either the make of the P6 was such to not have a problem with them or maybe they have gotten better. One of the two was good, the other has given me several problems. So when I warn against Promags, it's not all of them. But be careful, as with the other 10 Sig mags I have, haven't had a problem.

Oh, and by the Way Bill, the mags aren't really for sale yet. I have 3 P6's and might even get another in the future so I'll probably keep holding onto the mags as between three guns I have 4 mags apiece and I like to keep 5 mags for each pistol I have(it's a OCD thing).
