I just picked this up at a local store today - EAA Witness Match .45

My new EAA Witness Match in .45ACP! This gun is extremely well finished for under $500!

I had to order it. $489 plus shipping and tax. $550 out the door because I had to pay $30 shipping. The store didn't stock this item.

After hefting it and inspecting it close-up I have to say this is a real bargain. Of course that is without having shot it yet.

Here are the specs:
  • .45ACP with $229 conversion kits for 9mm, .40, 38 Super and 10mm available
  • Produced in the Tanfoglio Custom Shop
  • Single action trigger in the flavor of a 1911. Very nice for an out of box trigger to be sure. Pre and over travel adjustment screws.
  • Stainless match grade polygonal 4.75" barrel
  • Super tight slide to frame fit. I mean super tight.
  • Fully adjustable Tanfoglio Super Sight on the rear. Interchangeable front sights with fiber optic available
  • Extended Safety
  • Extended Mag Release
  • Hart Shaped Hammer
  • 10+1 capacity in .45 (18 in 9mm, 15 in .38S, .40 and 10mm)
These are actual pictures of my new EAA Witness Match:

I'm assuming that's the Witness Elite?

Yes it is. The Elite Match. I just replaced the web pictures with huge pictures of the actual gun. I just got it cleaned up from the plastic bag.

I'll be shooting it Thursday. I bought 250 rounds of 230 Mag-Tech range rounds. I'm taking that day off to shoot several guns

I have two Tanfoglio's, a witness in .40 and a witness compact in 9mm and love them both. The .40 is one of the most accurate pistols I have ever shot!!!

Shot the Witness Match today

And holy cow is this thing accurate!

It was very windy when I was out. So windy that it was making it hard to hold a steady bead but I managed to hold several tight lines today. I had a couple of 4 shot 2.5" groups at 20 paces. I had several flyers though but that was certainly the wind. My Tuffsteel target stand and target went down a dozen times or more, even with 4 10-20 boulders on the legs.

The trigger is amazing. It can't be more than 3 pounds. Crisp and smooth. I put some snap caps in the Witness Match and my Tauruas PT1911 last night to try and compare them. I'm not an expert by any strecth so it was actually hard to tell the difference but I feel like the Tauruas breaks a little harder. Maybe 3.25 or 3.5 pounds. I feel like the Witness is a bit smoother but it's hard to say because both are fantasic triggers. One thing I did notice is even though the Witness does not have a straight back trigger like a 1911 the Witness trigger feels just like firing a 1911 trigger.

I have no need to have this trigger worked on and I don't plan on playing with the pre/over travel screws at all.

I feel like since this gun comes out of the Tanfoglio Custom Shop the the overall configuration out of the box is way more spot on than all the other handguns I own. With the XDs and Tauruses there was something that had to be done after I bought it. The sights were not centered properly, etc. With the Witness and the CZ P-01 were both right on with everything out of the box. Ready to shoot well if you will.

I ran 200 rounds of cheapo Magtech target rounds through it. Zero malfunctions I'm happy to report.

As I was leaving I saw an untouched 12" aluminum frying pan sticking out of the top of a bullet ridden oven. The handle was sticking in a hole on top so I had to pull over and try to puts some rounds in it. I was at least 50 yards from it and fired 10 rounds at it. I'm proud to say I hit the frying pan 5 times from that distance with a lot of wind.

I'm happy.

I ran 50 rounds through my XD9SC while out there to make sure everything is in order since that's my primary carry gun and I hadn't fired it in 5 weeks or so. As always, no failures and super accurate. I was hitting within a 4" circle at 10 yards. Not bad considering the wind.
