Charter Arms and Taurus revolvers

How are Charter Arms and Taurus revolvers? I'm looking at getting something rather inexpensive and in .22 caliber. Taurus has the 94 in 2in and Charter Arms has the Pathfinder in 2in and 4in. Also is 2in too short a barrel?

I've had a charterarms "offduty" .38 for about 20 years and have never had a problem with it.

Taurus makes nice revolvers. I got my mom a 941, I think it is, 22 Mag with a 2" barrel. Nice gun.

I just got a Charter Arms Bulldog works great and is good for the price point. However, do not expect to get S&W quality from either of these two. Not that they are bad, just have realistic expectations.

Matt, is there a particular aspect of quality that is lacking? I really like the S&W 22s but they are twice the price of either the Charter Arms or the Taurus. Ultimately, as long as the gun shoots without hiccup that's all I care about.

Probably depends on how old and what model.

I had a Stainless Charter Arms Undercover .38. Easily the worst gun I have ever owned. Wobbly cylinder crane, bad timing. It would shave and spray my face with copper jacketing every time I shot it. Went back to Charter Arms multiple times. Came back exactly the same every time. Never fixed. The last time Charter sent it back, they sent it USPS. It was in the box, hanging in a bag from my front door handle when I got home. Glad the neighbor kids weren't out on patrol for $tuff to steal.

Traded the gun away.

Never had a Charter but own two Taurus's and they are awesome guns. Both function flawlessly. They are known to have great service too.

I would opt for the 4". Better performance with the .22.

If you are not locked in to a double action, check out the Ruger single actions.

Thanks Frenchy. I just read an article on gunblast where Jeff reviewed a Taurus 941, the .22 mag version of the 94 and he said 4'' was ideal for .22LR. He also said the Taurus was good quality. My friend has a Ruger single action but I haven't checked prices yet.
