Does anyone know how to get the muzzle nut off of a WASR-10 AK-47 ?

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the muzzle nut off of a WASR-10 AK-47 ? or do you have to use a set screw thread adapter ?
It looks like it should come off I know if it doe's it is suppposed to be left hand threads , but is there a special tool to get it off? it looks like it has four notches at the base and at the end it has two flat spots that look like you can put a wrench on![I tryed a little to turn to the right to loosen!] left hand threads should loosen when turned clockwise right?
anyway! I was wanting to put a slant break on it to make it look more original! if anyone knows, thanks for any info! oh! yea, it is a romanian made AK-47!

First of all, you have to make sure its not welded on. If it is, use a rotary tool ot grinder to break the weld.

If it is not welded, look to make sure that the detent pin is compressed back into the front sight block-it fits in the notches and keeps the muzzle device from coming loose.

Thanks einheit 13 I found the spot weld on it! do you know if the threads are 14x1 LH ? I am going to use a rotary tool to grind of the spot weld and was wondering if it has 14x1 threads or 24mm threads?

If the barrel is threaded, it will be 14/1 LH. If not, there should be enough meat on the barrel to use a 14/1 die and tat to thread it.

to make it even easier to shoot, it will be a lot louder, get an AK 74 style brake...seriously reduces felt recoil....

Hey guys,

I'm sorry to bring this one back from 2 years ago, but I have a similar Question.

I have a WASR-10 with the welded on Muzzle Nut. So, I figure I can probably get the nut off and install a compensator, but the hard part for me is that the compensator would have to be permanently installed. (NJ Law)

I also read that high heat silver solder will oxidize the metal, so it looks like welding is the way to go. Problem is.. I don't have a welder or any welding experience.

Any one know what I should do? (Other than move from NJ ... its in the works)
