i was all sort of excited when I first heard about SR9. and put one in order.
I couldn't wait to get my hand on one to shoot it. I was so excited
until I shot one at the range.
My friend got one.
i have to admit, it was rather huge disappointment.
Trigger felt just awful. It almost felt like I was jhooting daisy BB gun.
Safety is too small and felt gritchy, Mag release, while ambidextrous, it as soo stiff that you'd have to brake your grip to operate it.
Slide made crunky sound, did I mention that trigger felt just worst?
It look real nice, and it fits my hand nice, and did do excellent grouping from rest at25yds.
But its no showstopper. Overall, it felt like I was shooting Sigma, but trigger felt worst.
I think gun was rushed in to market before engineer thought about evryting. May be they'll come out with more refined as revised model.
I called my dealer, and cancel my order.

On Triggers
While I'm not sure of the mechanics of the SR9 trigger, I recently got a CZ SP-01. Initially, the trigger was long, had multiple tension points and not CZ smooth. Now, 500 rounds in, it's clear in it's positions and buttery.
Just something to think about.
Additionally, the C9 is on the cover of this months' G&A.

FYI guys, if you didn't already know, but Budsgunshop has the SR9 for $389 delivered. I agree, it's a nice looking gun. I'm reading the G&A article right now, but I can't finish till the next time I have to drop the kids off at the pool.

It is a Glock trigger design, as is most of the gun. The one I'm working on was super rough, basic honing and polishing made it nice but still heavy. Knowledge of the Glock trigger allows you to make a nice trigger.
I'm looking at seeing what it would take to replace the rear sight insert with a nicer target style sight.
There are some photos of the "guts" here.

Check out the Ruger Forum. I'm considering an sr9 but am going to wait. Seems that there are some bugs to be worked out and that on a board that is very Ruger friendly. Magazines have some problems. Seems like a good gun. Supposedly after the first of the year, Ruger will have new mags out. It also can be easily damaged if you dry fire without the magazine in place. Lots of potential though.
It seemed to be a good gun for my wife's small hand but the types of issues I'm reading about won't allow me to trust her life with a Ruger sr9.

You can move the magazine safety in about 10 seconds, and yes you don't want to dry fire with it in without a mag.

I read about that. But I think I'm going to have her shoot an XD9 SC. That might be small enough. I have the tactical XD40 and the grip and trigger are just too far apart for her to squeeze the trigger without messing up her accuracy.

Got it in today! Initial impressions are good. Nice feel, fit and finish, don't care for the trigger (dry fire...mag in) but I hope that'll change. The mag release on this one is actually not as stiff as my XD 40 & 45. Mags seem fine, but kind cheezy look'n compared to the rest of the gun...stainless please!
Finally have plans for a Christmas Eve firing of my 5 unfired firearms!
Snal~
