So I've wanted a CZ pistol for a LONG time. (Wish I bought one back when I first discovered them as they were much cheaper lol)

I'm fortunate enough to live reasonably close to cz custom and am planning a visit sometime this week.

I visited two local ranges today in the hopes of firing some rounds through a P-01 and a P-07 both 9mm. Unfortunately neither range had either to rent and only one actually sold them.

I was allowed to handle and dry fire a P-07 and liked what I felt. I did some research and apparently this uses the 'Omega' trigger system. This particular trigger system seems to be a polarizing topic of discussion with most people either in the love it or hate it categories with no middle ground. From my limited time it felt pretty impressive, especially in SA mode.

Can anyone educate me as to how exactly the Omega system is different? Does anyone have time with CZ pistols that use the omega vs the standard DA/SA system? Which do you prefer?

I also really liked the feel of the P-01. I expected it to be MUCH heavier than the P-07 and was pleasantly surprised to notice that it really wasn't. Anyone have experience with both of these pistols in particular? Which did you prefer and why?

I have several polymer frames pistols currently (XD, M&P, Glock, Walther) but no hammer fired pistols hence the interest. Any other info or recommendations on similar pistols is welcome!

The only CZ I have experience with is my wife's 83. It's big and heavy for a .380, but very comfortable to shoot. It's reliable and accurate. Would I buy one for carry? No, there are better options out there. Will I shoot my wife's at the range because it's fun? Definitely.

I own Three CZ's (75B, PO-1 and 82.)none have the omega trigger system.
I can say this there all great guns,but IMO the CZ PO-1 is about as close as I've ever come to firing the perfect pistol. I also own or have owned XD's, Glocks, Springfields, Kahr's, Rugers,'s, S&W's and RIA's. All have been good pistols ,but If I had to make a choice though I'm taking the PO-1 over all of them.

The Omega trigger eliminates a lot of pre travel and creep in the trigger and allows you (on the P-07) to change from a decocker to a traditional safety.

I own a CZ P-01 and it is my EDC in a Tommy Theis IWB or a Galco MCII shoulder rig.

I made 2 mods to it, thin 1/2 checker cocobolo wood grips and a CGW hammer kit. My SA trigger is SWEEEET, has no creep and breaks like an icicle.

What can I say except I love this gun! It's a natural pointer, extremely accurate, reliable and it weighs on 5 oz more than a G19 unloaded.

I love my CZ P01 it's rock solid and accurate. The double action pull is stiff, but the single action is a dream. I can punch some ridiculous groups in paper with it. Great size for carrying, not too heavy, and 15 rounds in a "compact" what's to complain about?

Get both, CZ's are great. I have a pre-B 85 and a PCR and hoping to get more.

The only problem I have heard about the P07 is that the magazines are expensive and hard to find right now. I have heard some say that the standard 75 mag will work in it, but cannot confirm. Can't go wrong with either or both!

Yep, as far as SA/DA pistols go the P-01 is hard to beat. I think very comparable to the SIG/Sauer P-228 and a few hundred less $. In fact, I've had the oppurtunity to compare the two pistols and the P-01 was slightly more accurate. One great feature of the P-01 is when you decock. The hammer is intercepted by the half cock intercept on the hammer making that first DA trigger pull very short. The more you shoot it and dry fire it the better the trigger gets.

I'm not into the P-01 but it is a very good gun based on countless owner accounts from just about everywhere.

I've had a short interest in the P-07 because I am looking for a 9mm and kind of miss having a hammer-fired DA/SA gun. I don't know why the Striker-fired guns are so popular, but because of it, it's become harder to find affordable, good quality hammer-fired guns in general.

What caused me to lose interest in the P-07 Duty is mainly from watching Nutnfancy's review of it.

Cons:
- No interchangeable backstraps.
- Very wide gun.
- Takedown is more complicated than it should be.
- Seems picky with ammo or feeding issues.
- Extra magazines are hard to find (more than say XD's, M&P's, and Ruger's) and are expensive.

Pro's:
- Good sights.
- Very ergonomic.
- Good grip size for small hands.
- Excellent trigger.
- Accurate.

I really WANT to like the P-07, but most of the "Con's" bug me enough to hesitate on getting one. I've heard that a P-09 is coming out in March(?) of this year, and it has different backstraps, more mag capacity(unless King Obama or Feinstein mess that up), and is slightly larger all-around. I don't know if it will be any better than the P-07 though.

I'm not trying to scare anyone away from the P-07, just expressing my opinion and concerns about it.
