Although the Glock pistols are not my favorite brand, CZ's and 1911's own that spot. Those few words should not imply that I do not own a G26 and enjoy shooting it quite a bit. It's a great gun and I often carry it. I say if the Glock 19 is what you like then you should by it. There a good quality gun with proven reliability and accuracy.
I never quite got the mentallity that just because a person prefers one gun over and other that they needed to have negative feelings and words towards the other brands. Folks there's a whole lot of terrific pistols out there in plastic and steel in every shape and size and caliber to enjoy.
Have at it. Dare to step out of the box and feel free to explore. You might just find that you like some of those other brands and styles more than you thought you did.

Glock grip angle could mess up your shooting on other guns. The angle is unique to Glocks.
On Top Shot a few years ago a competitive Glock shooter did horrible shooting other handguns. Have seen this in person too.
Just something to be aware of.

My dad has an old P225 (P6) that is ridiculously accurate. One of the best guns I shoot with. I didn't even consider a P226. Seeing as it's almost twice as much, maybe I should just save up for one of those.
You guys are awesome, this is exactly the information I was looking for.

Nothing wrong with Glocks, I've owned them and I just don't like them and don't shoot them well. Not to mention how freeking irritating many Glock owners are. Best way to see if you like something is to try it out, so try one in a range or a friends or buy your own and make your own decision.
I think XD's are better, as are M&P's as I shoot them better (better for me). I've heard the PPQ is fantastic but have not shoot one myself.
Lot's of good choices out there from lots of good companies and the differences aren't worth fighting over, so get what you like from a good company and be happy with it.

If it feels good in the hand, it is hard to to wrong with the Glock 19.
We have plenty of Glock haters but the fact remains that many police, private security contractors, military units and professional trainers swear by the Glock 9mm pistols.
I have three Glocks (19, 17 & 22) and have been shooting Glock pistols since about 1992. They are the most trouble free pistols I have owned.
They did have some teething pains with the Gen4 guns but the newer ones seem to have the ejection problems cleared up. Besides, Apex Tactical has the cure if you get one that does have ejection problems.
I say go for it....the Glock 19 is a very easy pistol to hit well with, if you ask me. Some of us older guys were shooting Glocks long before the other polymer guns came along and we just don't want to change.
I had an XD40 for years and it was an ok pistol, but I was so used to Glocks, I traded it away for the 3rd gen G19.

I definitely do not hate glocks, I have owned them in the past. But the reason so many agencies choose them is probably because they come in under budget. They are a very good dependable firearms, ala AK47 of firearms. They are simple to clean and repair and the fact that there are so many upgrades available attests to the fact that they are not perfect a delivered. As others here have stated get one and then change whatever to make it fit you.

Glock G17 or G19 is on my list to go w/my XDM's in 9mm.
I had a G22 Gen4 but didn't care for the Glock in .40...Have shot a few of the G17/G19's & really like them.

If you like your XD or XDM then you will like a Glock (maybe a little more).

The grip angle thing is really overblown if you ask me. I can transition between my 4 1911s, the SIGs and the Glocks just fine.
If you are a decent shooter...you should be able to pick up a Glock, SIG or whatever and do reasonably well. Sure...one might feel better than others but if you have experience with shooting handguns...you should be able to handle most all of them.
The Glock 19/23 has less of a hump on the backstrap and should be easy to transition to from other guns. Also...you can have the grip re-shaped on any Glock to remove the hump and finger grooves...another reason to not sweat the grip angle issue.
