You can read good and bad about anything and everything if your looking on forums. The Walther PPS is fantastic in my opinion and I carry it every day all day. The Kahr is smaller but more snappy. Not as easy to shoot for me quickly and accurately as the Walther PPS. Plus the trigger on the Kahr is a long double action feel. Go rent a couple and make a decision then.

Good advice, go rent a few and let that guide you more than what you read.

I've heard some bad on Walther. May be unsubstanciated. (spelling ?)
I'm #3 on a list for the Shield, and they are keeping the price retail, at $399.00. They already sold one and are keeping it at that price. Woot. A good (bigger) sportsmans chain too, so I think they'll be able to get them soon.

Nothing crazy just that they wore down faster than some of the other guns. Some complained about the fact it was picky about certain ammo. I know someone with one so I will find out for myself but for the same price the shield seeems to liked more and is in the same price bracket.

hey I personally carry an XDM 3.8" Compact. excellent and comfortable gun to shoot. reasonable to carry, where I live I can carry it no problem for about 8 or nine months out of the year but in the summer it gets a little warm for the thicker clothes that hide it well so something single stack is really a lot better for CC. my big motivation for using the XDM compact for CC instead of a single stack is just because I already had the full size so I can interchange magazines. if I ever switched out my system to a new platform it would be an hk usp compact and then using a walther p22 to train on and a walther pk380 for my wife. her LCR recoils too hard so she doesn't enjoy shooting it much. I have always liked the USP but wouldn't want to carry one unless I was completely adopting that system because of the oddball magazine release. hope there was some useful input in here.

I have thousands of rounds through mine now. Been pretty good! The shield is a good choice as well but I just don't prefer manual safeties.

Totally agree. I had one in hand and the manual safety was stiff enough where I don't think it will ever get snapped on, even under stress. It's small and out of the way too. But I still greatly frown upon it.
S&W is being disappointingly pussywhipped with the M&P series in a way. What's all this crap with manual safeties, and worse, MAG SAFETIES. (Disconnects). I can see it in .22 rifles, but not even pistols. They are dumb and UNSAFE, IMO.
Good thing to think about when getting a carry gun. ^

Manual safeties are ok as long as they are something you regularly train with. Keep all your manual of arms the same and you shouldn't have any problems. I have never trained with a safety so it would be totally new to me.

Agree, even with my last post. Not a problem if it's what you train with. And agree again, easier to keep the same operation style for all your pistols (or whatever). But of course not needed. Who doesn't have that 1911, even when they have a Glock or XD/m.
And maybe you should have a manual safety if it makes you feel safer. IMO no safety shouldn't be a problem if you carry. That's not a lot of confidence.
But I'd always say never get something with a mag safety.
