That's why I got a taurus 740 slim. In a year or so, the shield will be more readily available. May get one then or maybe a XDs in 40 will be available by then.

I've spotted Sheild's in gun stores and on line sites, so don't give up if it's the gun you want. The Kahr CM9 is a good alternative (actually a bit smaller) if you want to buy now.

Could I have shot the Theatre shooter from row 15 with my PF9? Doubt it, especially with the armor. But the odds are a lot better with my 4.5 XDm40.
How much do you want to pay in capability to make it small and light?

I'll agree to disagree with you here. I'll say this, PF9 wouldn't be my first choice in a single stack 9mm cause I probably could hit anything either but my PPS is just as accurate as my PPQ and I shoot it just as well. My two cents, most people I know who will only carry a full size gun rarely carry as often as they say they do. Not saying that's everyone but a lot.

Have you considered the Walther PPS? I love mine and it's about the same size as the shield without a manual safety.

I have to roll around on the ground, climb around, and stuff myself into some tight places at work and a micro compact pistol is the only option as far as comfort goes for me.
I think the ideal setup is to have one service sized pistol and one single stack micro compact. When you can, carry the larger gun and when its not desirable, carry the little guy. Ofcourse having more options than that is even better!

I'm a Glock and Sig fan, guess you can tell that from my signature. I normally carry my Gen 4 G19 or 23 with .375 sig ammo. But if you Sig, try the 2022, mine was $399 at Academy. It is probably my favorite shooter of the guns I have. It is a big large though but if you're open carry, doesn't matter. It is every bit as good as my P226 Navy, just lighter. If I could carry my 2022 comfortably I would but the G19 is lighter and smaller, easier to conceal as Texas has no open carry. I can't stank IWB so I opt for OWB cc but I've large shoulders/chest so it helps hide the gun. For me, I swear by the Raven but you could probably find a similar holster for cheaper:

+1. I'd get on a list at a few places, and watch your LGS. I found one locally about 3 weeks or so ago.
I know plenty of folks carry full size pistols. For me, it was like lugging around a brick.

I think you/everyone should carry at least one spare mag. Just my opinion & I do 99% of the time.

Well I am down to three options after all if the info provided. Wait for the shield, buy a cz 75b and carry it, or getwalther pk380 or another walther model. How do you guys feel the walthers hold up most reviews are nothing to write home about worries me a bit.

Honestly I would get a Kahr CM or PM before a Walther PK380. You move from a 380 to a 9mm with no size penalty, the Kahr is probably smaller. I don't know enough about the cz to compare, but I do know that those of us who have Kahr's are very happy with them. My PM9 has a fantastic trigger post break in and couldn't be more reliable, plus it's pretty darn accurate. The CM9 is just about the same for hundreds less (you give up the match barrel and get only 1 slide).
Just my 2cents.
Also, I agree with those who have gone from large carry guns to small. There's lots of nice holsters out there but lugging around a double stack semi auto gets (for me) a bit much. I'm at the point where I'm either carrying the PM9 or the LCP in a superfly pocket holster, or if I want the larger XDM compact I carry it in a 511 fanny pack. I'd suggest starting small and working up in size if you decide you want more.
