^ That's part of what I'm hoping for, too.
I was a relatively early-adopter of the XDm9 3.8 Compact, but honestly, there's not much difference there, to the full-sized variant. With the XD-S, I'm thinking that a bit more time is probably not a bad thing.
Be sure to train the snot out of that thumb safety. Work it every time!

Just chiming in w/my 2cents on the XDS problems mentioned.
I think alot of the people that are having problems, I'm not saying everyone but probably at least half, are due to operator error, incorrect maintenance & or lack of understanding of the pistol IMO....Limp wristing, improper slide action performed, & lack of lube are big contributors to most problems. The XDS is a new lightweight, high caliber pistol w/tight tolerances that most of us are not use to. Once again, IMO.
I've got 450 flawless rounds so far.
I'll be waiting for hate mail now!

Hi,
No hate mail here! In the end, I think it was the fact that the XDs does seem to have such tight tolerances that pushed me to the more tolerant Shield. If the real thing happened, my arms might not be locked, or I might be using just one hand, and I'd hate to have the gun say "Sorry, your form isn't perfect." I wanted a work horse like my XD.

I was quite pleased with mine. Ran 250 flawlessly for a break-in. Slightly better trigger than the XD9SC. Now if I can only get night sights and extra magazines for it I will be a happy camper.

Very nice! I'm taking my Shield to the range for the first time next weekend. I hope I shoot as well as you did.

I can see your point on why you chose the Shield & I think it's a great choice.
I was just giving my POV on the XDS!
