earlier models usually. The German made as most want. I've shot plenty of the US built and found them to be fine pistols in my experience as well.

I personally like the 226 and the 228/229. (I'm not sure if they still make the 228, the 229 came about as it's a little bigger and beefed up to handle .40 and .357 Sig)

the 239 and 220 are definitely nice pistols as well.

The polymer framed 2022 is one of the best budget pistols on the market as well though, they tend to run right at 400 brand new.

To carry; P228 (9mm), or P239 / P229 in 9mm, 40cal, or 357sig.

For range gun; P229 or P226 in 9mm, 40cal, or 357sig.

Make sure you like the DA/SA trigger with the decocker.
I prefer Sig's DAK trigger, a type of DAO with a short trigger reset.

I once did, and still do, love Sig pistols.
But out of 6 I've owned, I sold the last one a few weeks ago.
My fondness of 1911s and Glocks over rode my love for the Sigs that just sat in the gun safe.

BTW it is the West German made Sigs people go goofy over.
I've owned one W Ger and 5 American made Sigs.
I had no problems out of any of them.
I've never contacted Sig with a problem in the last 16 years of owning Sig pistols.

And don't bother with the polymer Sigs.
If you want a Sig, then buy a Sig: P239, P225 (P6), P228, P229, P226, or P220.

yeah, I forgot to add that west German part.

I should've put the W. German 220 I saw at a shop on layaway...

I think it was 450 or so. Had a little holster wear but solid. I imagine it's long gone now...

I love them, though mine are either range guns or car guns. I have a Sig P226 Navy Mk24 and a Sig Pro 2022, both fantastic. But for EDC, a bit too large and heavy. I use my G19's for that.

Love my Sigs and with all my trigger work and fancy this and that on other pistols, my 228 and 220 still have the absolute best trigger in single action right out of the box, no creep at all just pressure then bang! Like it oughta be.
I don't attach a lot of emotions to my guns other than the perfection of my AK and the mystique of my FAL, but when I put my hand on one of my Sigs I just feel very very "pro".

Ive had 6 different P226's, one in 357, one in 40 and the rest in 9mm. Also had 4 different P229's, all in 9mm. And had one P220. I never experienced one malfunction or stoppage with any of them. I currently have one Sig P226 in 9mm and it is scary accurate.
