Well pretty much made up my mind on the 738. I have found lots of horror stories and a bunch of satisfied customers. I have found both the SS black and the SS natural versions with the 2 mags and bulldog case for 288. I also found a SS black for 249 but I don't know if that is a full kit or just the gun and 1 mag. I can always add mags later and same with the case. I think I'll carry it more it a wallet holster than a PDA case though so the bulldog case isn't a deciding factor as much as price.40 bucks is 40 bucks thats 100rds towards breaking it in and doing reliability tests.

I have a blackened stainless 738. I initially had a problem where the last round in the magazine would jam on its way into the chamber. It didn't matter which mag I used (I have five), it would consistently jam on the last round. I read a bunch of internet opinions and decided the most likely cause was the cartridge rim getting stuck/caught on the extractor. With a cartridge below, I'm guessing there's the extra pressure of the part of the shell above the mag lips.
I took a hobby/jeweler's file (Home Depot) to the bottom of the extractor/loaded chamber indicator to round it just a tiny bit and sure enough, it solved the problem. I ran 100 rounds loading only two cartridges per mag and never had another failure. In other words, I tried to recreate the failure 50 times after the minor work and never experienced the failure again. I thought that was good enough considering it reliably happened every time before the mod. It's the gun I carry in my front pocket when working around the house or needing extra discretion.

Well went to the LGS today and got to fire the 738 and the LCP. Needless to say they aren't for me. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and info. I ended up with a nice used MKIII with 2 mags and Hogue overmolded target grips. Can't wait to get it to the range and open her up. but that's for another thread.

Well in dry firing I prefer the 738 trigger. More crisp than the lcp. However I felt like I lost the gun in my hands. Recoil was manageable. Accuracy was lacking for me but only shot 10 rounds per gun. A laser would be much appreciated for both. I may revisit later down the road but for now I got a plinker and a big daddy XDm .45.
