Ruger LCP 9mm recoil?

Does anyone have, or have fired the Ruger LCP in the 9mm? I have a female friend who is new to firearms, and is wanting a semi auto. I am helping her look for one, and before you tell us to go rent one, the closest range/ store to rent a gun is 3 1/2 hours away, so I want to know how severe is the recoil on the LCP in the 9mm?
Any other information about it would be nice: Reliability, functionabilty, comfort in shooting etc.

The LCP is .380 (9mm short).

The LC9 is 9mm Parabellum.

To which are you referring?

I have the Ruger LCP and don't find the recoil that bad. I added the Hogue grip that softened it out a bit. But because of the size it will have a little recoil. But nothing beats the size and conceal ability. Shameless plug I have one for sale

The one I was looking at was the 9mm. The clerk refered to it as a LCP. It may be the LC9, either way I am interested in how comfortable the 9mm pocket- size gun would be for a petite female to shoot.

The LCP (which is .380) is a pretty small gun. I love carrying it. It is definately more of a "get off me" gun than anything else. The sights are almost non existant on a good day at the range when there isn't a bad guy in front of you. Only problems mine have given me are some failures to feed using cheap monarch steel case ammo. Not to say another one wouldn't feed it just fine.

The LC9 is big enough to get your hand on, grip is made better by adding a rubber grip sleeve. The more I shoot it the more I dislike the trigger. I do shoot very well with it however. It does come with three dot sights that are tons easier to see than the ones on the LCP, just watch out for the unwanted drifting of the front sight.

A friend of mine has the LC9 and its a nice shooter, easy to conceal, and the recoil isn't to bad! The only thing i don't like about it is the mile long trigger it has!

Kahr's are great pocket sized 9's (PM9 and CM9) but you need to break them in. XDsc is a great out of the box but not quite a pocket 9. I carry my Kahr, Ruger and XDsc the most.

Is it a double action only? I was under the impression from the clerk that it could be fired in single action.

You're talking about the LC9.
I haven't shot one, but I BUG/sometimes main carry a LCP (.380). I put a Hogue Hand-All Jr. grip (needs to be trimmed on length) & a mag finger extension on it & the recoil is fine. I suspect it would help the LC9 as well. A small carry weapon isn't a range gun, but needs to be shot some to keep the familarity with.

If the LC9 had been out when I bought my LCP, I would have purchased it instead.

Both are "double action " only.

Yes, DAO.
The new Ruger SR22 pistol is DA/SA, but not the LC9 or LCP.
