Ok, so which Apex kit do I want?
I have a full size M&P-45 with the thumb safety and want to install one of the Apex kits, looking for a nice trigger hopefully approaching my 1911 or CZ-75SP01. The Thumb safety negates a need for a stiff trigger pull. There seem to be several kits, which one do I want/need?

The only kit that will get you remotely close to the feel , shape, pull of a 1911 is the apex FSS trigger. It's the most expensive, but it replaces the entire trigger. It's awesome.

How much $$$? How easy to install? FWIW, in my humble opinion, a thumb safety is irrelevant to trigger pull weight.

I've got the DCAEK on my M&P9c and it's the best trigger I've felt on a striker fired pistol. The PPQ is on par with it. I have heard very positive reviews of the FSS too but have never felt one.

A: Didn't realize how expensive the Apex kits were, would like to keep it under $100 as I also want a PRP trigger for my race XD-45Compact Tactical.
B: If you've got a 1911 with a light trigger a thumb safety or at least a grip safety is imperative, will be the same for these two weapons once they get tricked out. I've removed all the safeties from my SP01 since I can leave it in DA hammer down mode before firing.
C: Ease of installment, meh, I'll get anything to work as long as I don't lose flying parts to the dark corners of the universe lol. The CZ sear cage has pretty much cured me of mechanical fear.

The Forward Set Sear Trigger retails for $160 but it trumps everything else that Apex offers in my opinion. Everyone that has shot my M&P9 with this trigger in it went and purchased it for themselves almost immediately. Two of my friends went and had them installed right after we left the range, lol.
I ordered it thru my gunshop and they installed it for free in less than 20 minutes. Completely transformed my pistol.

Apex FSS & Trigger
I just sold my M&P9L to a guy that does 3 Gun along with his friend, that also came over.
They both really liked the FSS & Trigger. His friend also has the Apex DCAEK kit in his M&P40 (I think he said Pro?). He WILL be ordering the FSS & Trigger soon.
I've let others shoot it and they were really impressed. A couple were range officers, one had a 1911 on his hip and his eyes bugged out after he shot it while turning his head with a __DAMN__ that's good. Another range officer with a PPQ was also really impressed. The PPQ's reset is nice, but the FSS & Trigger is so short it doesn't need it, it wasn't even close as to what one was better. My friend has a stock SA 1911 .45 that was around $900, the M&P and FSS is a better trigger than his out of the box. His has that adjustable over travel screw, but he never adjusted it though.
Granted $168 is NOT cheap by anyone's measure. But it is very, very good. Apparently they made the M&P Shields triggers better and that's where the rest of the M&P's are headed soon (don't know if that's in a month or 3 though?). But I've read in over 5 other forums that the Apex kits are still better than the improved Shields, of course the FSS is way better.
So I say it's well worth the money. Even if you have to save up for another pay check or two to feel more comfortable spending that much. Trust me I was also very hesitant. Since I sold my M&P I'm going to order another FSS & Trigger kit very shortly, maybe even before I get my M&P9. You can set the FSS to 3.0 lbs or up to 5.5 lbs with everything that's included in the kit, maybe there's another spring that could get it up to 6.0 or 6.5 lbs. if you'd like (I swear I read that somewhere on m4carbine). This is for other people; I know if you wanted you could even get it down to 2 lbs. or a little under with the Apex Comp kit springs. I'm going to find out if you can just order a spring or two and not the whole kit to get it to 2 lbs though.
I'll be honest, Apex just moved to a much needed bigger location, but I wish they would of moved out of California to save some money. Maybe we could get the FSS for $130 to $155 shipped, or who knows even less if they would of picked something like South Dakota or similar. However you can't beat the weather there, the rest of it they can keep.
Also I'd look at the Burwell trigger job PDF.
Code:
https://rapidshare.com/files/485716391/M_P_Trigger_Job__by_Burwell__NICE__p_46_w-Bookmarks__d04-13-11__.pdf
This along with the Apex videos should really make it easy. I'd just get 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper from an auto store to do it correctly though.
