Played with a Shield at the local shop yesterday.

Meh.

It's slim, but only slightly more so than my New Agent; only slightly lighter...and my NA is a 7-shot .45.

Actually compared it with an EMP--yes, I know there's a large price difference, but the EMP is about the same size, overall...and a much nicer pistol.

The Shield does have a nice trigger & sights, though--I'll give it that.

Guess if I want a micro 9mm, I'll still wait to get my mitts on a Sig 935, see how it feels.

Sorry, but you honestly believe it's a fair comparison to compare the Shield to pistols that cost twice as much or more? Of course the more expensive pistols are going to be nicer. They had better darn well be. Apples to Oranges, my friend. For the money, the Shield is a fantastic pistol, you can't begrudge it that!

Bushwhacker assault rifle with high capacity clips and a shoulder thing that goes up.

Actually, I tend not to consider price when looking at carry/defensive pistols; I tend to look at what is going to work best for me.

Guess it all depends on what value one places on certain features, etc.

To me, buying a pistol that I don't particularly care for just because it's cheaper than a pistol I do like doesn't make sense.

Beyond that, they are both subcompact single stack 9mm's with similar dimensions and capacities. I think that's an apples to apples comparison; a Honeycrisp is more expensive than a Braeburn, is it not?

Looks great!
I'm looking for a great conceal weapon, and definitely putting this on my short list for testing.

Points taken. But if the Shield is as accurate, reliable and comtrollable as the more expensive solutions, I couldn't justify the expense. If the other pistols work better for you, that's fantastic and by all means spend your money as you see fit. I'd rather not spend gratuitous amounts of money on a pistol that may wind up locked up as evidence for an extended period of time. Personal opinion of course.

Weight difference as well, plus I personally don't like the 1911 style for carry, too much to get hung up.

Here's a link to the Shield Accessories PDF, where there are a few Brands of holsters listed:

Sweet, appreciate that link. By the way, I don't know what I was thinking yesterday by saying I was going to the range today. In my moment of pure excitement I forgot it was mothers day. Maybe next weekend or during the week.

Highlighted is on of the silliest reasons I've ever heard of to not buy a pistol; odds are, that's never gonna happen--and in the extremely unlikely event it does, I would consider it money well spent--my life is worth a $1000 pistol.

What does that mean?
Are you referring to size or controls or what?
