I think what we are seeing is the M&P being in the works for quite a while and the XDs was a response to catching wind of what S&W was doing. SA had the Croats concentrate on the 45 so they would have a trump over the M&P at first.
Fwiw, my M&P-45 isn't single stack either

Why is he a troll?
He is stating that SA needs to heed S&W lead. Which they do need to when revealing a new gun. I'm betting there will be more Shields in hands and in gear compatible before XDs are. How many manufactures have XDs compatible gear out right now?
Both are good companies but SA has stumbled a few times on the production chain.
Why must everyone kneel and unzip SA's fly?

didnt say they did, but first post on the XD FORUM even in non XD handguns and bashing springfield? Smells like a troll to me
hell, for all I know it is your alternate ID!

To think that all of Springfield Armory customers are going to rush over to Smith & Wesson and purchase their new single stack Shield 9/40 handgun is crazy. Some might purchase it like they might purchase any other brand of handgun, heck you can never have to many S&W is not the first to the party, Ruger, Kel-Tec, Kahr, Sig, Taurus etc. etc.
There is always the SA EMPs and some other metal single stacks, also the Glock 36, Kahr and S&W 457 that have been around for awhile. Having more new guns in the market is good for everyone, don't really think anyone can claim to be the first to the party.

Competition is always a good thing, but S&W really did beat SA to the punch on this one.

Someone that posts something in order to get a visceral response.
Trolling for a bite, like fishing, baiting a fight...
