Between the Glock 17 or the Walther PPQ I'd pick Glock. But I go for beretta's most

funny, between glock and anything else, I'd pick anything else.

not really that drastic, but I just don't like glocks, I haven't gotten used to their trigger, the ergos suck and you can't fix that. If they fit you, then go for it because they are reliable guns, but just because it's a glock, it doesn't mean there aren't guns out there that are just as good, if not better for you.

M&P's are great, feel much better in my hand than glocks do, but the germans have the ergos down. Walther PPQ and HK P-30 are the most comfortable feeling guns out there. And both have better out of the box triggers than glock and S&W. If you're looking for just a range gun, I'd say check those two out. Ultimately, it's about what you like, not what everyone here says. Test fire the ones you can, hold the guns. But i'd put glock last on the list

For me, the M&P is easily as good as an XDM. And for me, I shoot it better than I did with my friend's Sig and HK. I'm not saying the M&P is better than the Sig or HK, I'm just saying I found it easier and better for me to shoot than those. The M&P has proven itself to be a very durable and accurate gun through official testing. It's made well, easy to maintain and operate, and a comfortable gun to grip. It may not be as comfy compared to a PPQ or P30, I can't say because I never handled those. However, even if the PPQ and P30 are more 'ergonomic', the M&P is by no means a wimp in that category either. I think I definitely got my money's worth and would love to get another one eventually. That's how pleased I am with it. Also, getting magazines for the M&P will cost you less and are easier to get compared to a P30 or PPQ. Just some things to consider. Either way, it's always good to look into options.

If you are looking for a full size, then you should really check out a CZ75 like mentioned earlier, and a Beretta 92.

Are you looking for factory-new, or is used an option? If so, you'd be open to just about any manufacturer while preserving your budget. Case in point, I went to a local gun show last year and walked out of there with 4 functioning WWII-era Colt M1911's for 300 a piece in beautiful condition.

That being said, I'd go with the PPQ because it's frickin' cool.
