Interested in a G19C, need some help.
Noticed a G19C at my local range, used for $397. Looks like a Gen3. What should I be on the lookout for when inspecting a used Glock? Yes, I realize some people feel that ports are the devil, outside of inspection purposes please ignore that it's ported.
Thoughts?

There's nothing to look for. Glocks are really simple machines. Unless the frame has an obvious through-and-through crack or break, then you're good to go. I'd jump right on that. Been looking for a similar deal on a G19 for some time now. Don't particularly want a ported Glock, but would certainly buy a 3rd gen G19c for $397!!!
Glock/Smyrna will repair anything that ever goes wrong (not likely) forever, free.

That's pretty reassuring. Hmm, hope I get my 1911 sold quick, then! Thank you for the input!

Who did the porting? If it didn't come from the factory ported, I'd definitely look for all kinds of other amateur gunfawkery.

Good point, I only looked at it through the case (the range was amazingly busy) but it looked factory. I'll probably head out there tonight or tomorrow to check it out and get some practice in at the range. I'll take some pics to help you folks pick it apart, if it's still there, that is!

I would check the guide rails. No one really mentions the guide rails, but GLOCK's guide rails are flimsy plastic with tiny metal inserts compared to almost all the other polymer guns that have thicker metal guide rail inserts. I think there was a batch of pistols a few years ago (which of course got hush hushed by the Kool Aid drinkers) that had problems with the rails cracking. So check those just to be sure.

If it says G19c on the slide, then the question of who did the porting has been answered!
Those of us who actually own Glocks and know something about them know that they don't have "flimsy plastic rails." There was a specific batch of Glocks that were recalled because of a manufacturing defect in their rails. That was several years ago.
Check out the "flimsy plastic rails" on Chuck Taylor's G17 that's had over 250,000 rounds through it.

I've owned 4 GLOCK pistols including the 19 I bought Saturday afternoon. GLOCK rails are the weak point, imo. They are very tough, but every gun has a weak spot.

And since the gun is used, I want him to make sure isn't several years old ie from the bad batch.

Who made that one up? Oh wait, you said imo.
I have also read on the interwebz that 9mm, fired from a GLOCK in particular, will cure cancer.
The two claims in this post are both as probable as the other, IMO.....
