The sigma's got some spotty reviews. I've heard mostly bad about them.

I bought my fiancee a S&W 637 for carry. It's easy for her to conceal, hold and she can manage the recoil very easy. It's not the best range gun to shoot for long periods but a great little gun for her to carry. Plus you could allways carry if you want, just don't buy her something pink unless you like to carry a pink gun.

My vote goes with a Khar PM9 or MK9. Works great with the Galco Stow-N-Go.

Has she tried something smaller like a S&W 442/642, they make nice light carry pieces.

So far, she's determined that the grip on the XD's is too big for her. She doesn't really like the angling on the G19 (but the G26 was ok, oddly). She found the Smith and Wesson SW9VE comfortable, but I'm a little worried about reliability.
Any suggestions on other guns to look at, or recommendations related to the guns above?
Thanks for you help.

a couple of questions:
realistically, how much does she shoot? will she shoot/train often enough to reach the point where running a semi-auto becomes 2nd nature?
I.E., will she be able to quickly clear a malfunction if one occurs? could she clear a double-feed if it happens?
if the answer to these is a "no"...then she'd be much better off with a wheelgun, IMHO.
in the revolver dept., my pick would be a Ruger SP101, with C/T grips...loaded with .38 +P rather than .357's.
hard to imagine a better self-defense gun for someone who doesn't shoot very much...just pick it up, put the red dot on the BG, and pull the trigger. no malfunctions to worry about either...only drawback is capacity.
on the other hand, if she's gonna be an avid shooter, go ahead with the semi-auto...someone suggested the M&P, and I agree that'd be an excellent choice (since she doesn't like the XD's ).

She's been shooting my XD mostly- she's actually already pretty good with a semi-auto. If she could get a slightly better grip on the XD, I would have no problem leaving it to her. None of the shops near me have the SC in stock- do you know if it has a thinner grip?

I'm not dead-set on anything. 9mm is convenient, however, because right now every handgun I own/ have around is 9mm.

I really like the reliability of the Kahrs in 9mm for a carry weapon, especially for smaller hands.
My wife has a Bersa Thunder that fits her like a glove, but it is .380, which for her is great with a bit less recoil than 9mm. Bersa also makes 9mm as well.
