Taurus Warranty Work?
I understand Taurus has, "The Taurus Unlimited Lifetime Repair Policy". Reading another post in this forum, there was a reference to a Taurus having a loose rear sight. This immediately brought to mind my Taurus PT99. I was shooting it the other day and noticed that the rear sight seems to be loose.
I guess I need to contact Taurus about the possibility of repair under warranty . . . How does a return for warranty get handled between and individual and the company? Can I send it directly to them and receive it back, or is it going to have to go through a dealer (costing me something like $20 each time).
No problems with my SA . . . but had wondered the same thing about it.

Call Taurus and let them know you want to send them the gun for repair they will give you the adress and you can ship it fedex. Write down your serial number so you can keep track of the progress of the gun. I too had a problem with my Tauras, but not myXD or XDm, hmmm?

Taurus' lifetime warrenty means, it takes taurus a lifetime to repair it right.
the taurus forum was amuck with horror stories of owners shipping their pistols back several times with the complaint never really addressed.
i also experienced a taurus horror story concerning a 24/7 9mm and consequently i will never purchase another taurus product no matter how many people tell me how well taurus' customer service has improved or how good taurus' products have improved.
my feeling is there are too many companies in the market place that get it right the first time, and the measly $50-$75 savings is gobbled up with the first warrenty return coupled with the inconvenience of down time.
at least the company is aptly named because it is all BULL $hit!

Just read their policy:
"This warranty does not cover grips, sights, accessories, cosmetic defects after one year, or damage caused by customer abuse at any time. Taurus will not be responsible for these items."
Dang it!

A good gunsmith should be able to fix the sights for a relatively low cost. If you have to call Taurus and ask about using FedEx, it'll be on their dime. Expect a 4-6 week turn around. They'll probably fix the sights for you. I have no complaints about my Taurus or my XD. Hope you get it resolved.

honestly it would probably be cheaper and less of a hassle to take it to a local reputable gunsmith to fix it..And most likely will get it back faster too.

I agree. It might be time to step up to a higher quality site anyway.

Hmmmmm, you guys are making a lot of sense here. May contact Taurus just to see what they say. Problem I have, there is NO gunsmith in town, at least, not according to one of the dealers. Was talking to a co-worker and he said his cousin has been gunsmithing part-time for years . . . that could be good, could be bad.
