G26/27 or xDSC 9/40?

I only own one gun right now (xd40 service) and love it. I am going to be adding to the collection over time. I'm thinking about adding a SC to the collection. I really like the G26/27 and xDSC. Also throwing around the idea of a shotgun, AK, or a long rifle. What do the experts think? Any suggestions?

I sold my G26 when I bought my XD9sc (which I also ended up selling).
If your XD40 service fits your grip, chances are the XDsc will also feel better than the Glock.
The lower part of the Glock 26 backstrap dug into my palm when gripping/firing.
Other than that, the G26 was flawless in over 10 years of carry.
I wish the Glock fit well in my hand.
I'd love to own a G19, but it just isn't comfortable.
A nice HD shotty wouldn't be a bad investment either.
And someday, I want a nice lever action 38/357mag rifle.
And an AR/Sig 556.
Damn Bro, we are in the same boat.....

BTW, I sold the XD9sc and now carry a Sig P239...

Good luck..

1Low speaketh the truth. I own a G27...I just spent Wednesday firing a sig 239 (.40)...and I will tell you, I immediately became a believer.

I know they are a little pricey. But if you have the chance fire all three...I have no doubt, as long as money is not an issue, what you will walk away with.

Being new to this sight but not so new to XDs, I would recommend another XD.
Why? Not just because of the quality and performance, but because they are presently hot commodities. Besides the more of one good brand the more the possibility of interchangeable parts in case you shoot a bunch and something should fail. I know XD is made in Croatia but Glock sells to our enemies. 30,000 units to Iran last I read. Just my opinion with 3 perfect XDs.

I tried both and went with the XD. On the SC front I would do the same. I hade major pinky drag with the Glock. The XDSC I had a full grip even without the extended mag.

I prefer the G26; an extended baseplate does wonders to keep your pinky on the pistol, if you feel it's necessary (I kinda liked it, but more for mag swapping issues than shooting).

My G26 was accurate, reliable, and comfortable to carry...I kinda miss it.

As to the rest...shotguns are fun, as are rifles...guess it depends on what you're looking for--a "social" long arm, or a range toy, both...

Personally, though--if you don't have a good .22 rifle, you should consider one of those.

If you like the XD40 Service, I vote for an XD40SC.

In terms of rifles/shotguns, you need an AR/M4 and either an 870 or 590. Get a conversion kit for your M4 and shoot 22LR out as well!

Good Luck!

My XD40SC has been flawless, the XD feels like it was made just for me. My buddy carried a Glock 27 as his back-up piece with the Florida HP and never had an issue. I never shot the Glock because I knew I would want one and I am not done adding to my XD family yet. Having held the Glock I must say the XD feels much more at home in my hand than the Glock 27 does.

I like Glock but they just never grip well for me, so I went with XD. I would suggest you to check out some sub compact guns and handle it in the gun shop. If possible, of course, shoot them if you can. Glock, XD, Sig or whatever big names won't let you down for sure... All you have to decide is how much you willing to spend, and which one you like.

As of shotgun and rifle, depends on what are you trying to do with them. Defense? Targets? Hunting? or...?
