I have a 30-30 contender that was my dads. It shoots well and I enjoy using it. I have taken it hunting, just haven't shot an animal with it yet.

I though about getting a new stock for my Encore. After checking into it. I don't think it is worth the hassle of registering the frame as a pistol. Then i could not use it as a rifle frame.
So i will just buy one someday. Like to have one in 30.06.

I don't have one, but I used to see a guy quite regularly at my local indoor rifle range that had an MRI Lone Eagle in .30-06. He always lugged along a stack of cigar boxes, probably 10 of them, duct taped together which he used as a rest for the piece while he was standing. I never fired it myself, but the muzzle blast was quite impressive!

I have a Contender with a 14" .30-30 barrel, a .22LR Match Barrel, and a .44 mag barrel...
Great pistol, loads of fun, very accurate.
As far as switching back and forth from pistol to rifle...as I understand it, if it was originally a pistol you can put a stock on it (as long as you have a 16" or longer barrel, of course...  ).
If, however, it was a rifle first, you can't put a pistol-length barrel on it, even without the stock...

In the old days I shot a contender in 30-30 at silhouettes in the IHMSA matches.
I now have a 22 Hornet and a 45-410 barrels for the frame.

Dad has a 223 caliber Contender with the Super 14" barrel and a 4X Leupold scope.
Its fun to nail Coke cans with a pistol at 100yds!
