I had a Super "14" .44 mag, It was accurate as hell with a Bushnell Holosite out to 100+ yds, But it was too long and unwieldy for the heavy brush in this area plus the shoulder holster chafed my neck so it sat except for range time for too long and was traded off. If I can find another with a 10" Barrel I may give it another chance. With full house loads of H110 behind a 300 grain Nosler the contender gives new meaning to hand cannon.

If a Contender Super 14 is too long and unwieldy for your area how do people rifle hunt?

I find my super 14 much easier to wield than a rifle or shotgun.

As for the shoulder holster chafing, I only tried a shoulder holster with a 10" barrel on my Contender. When I went to the Super 14 I put sling swivels on it. I carry it in my hands when walking just like I would with a rifle. Only time I sling it is if I'm climbing into a tree.

It's shotgun or pistol in this area only and the pistols are restricted to straight wall cases. I carried the pistol in addition to a shotgun just in case a decent shot presented itself while in my stand. Otherwise I rely on the Benelli for quick running or standing shots while on drives.
