Remington 700 SPS
Well, since I got an AR, I decided I want one of these as well Dont they all have heavier barrels? I know they are great shooters though. Planned to get a Bushnell 3200 Elite Tac 5x-15x or 10x to top her off, but Im not sure. Well, should I get one?

no they don't all have "heavier" barrels, all of the SPS's with the exception of the Varmint and SPS-Tactical have the pencil thin sporter contours. The sporter contour models won't group like the heavy barrel models, and the barrels heat up alot faster. Between the two my suggestion is the SPS-T, it certainly has the better of the two stocks and the 20" barrel makes for a much more handy rifle than the SPS-V at 26" and a 20" will still make it beyond 1000 yards no problem. SPS-T's can also be found very easily used in the $425-550 range. For scope I wouldnt recommend either, the elite 5-15 has almost nothing for internal travel, and the 10X is nothing special. for $250 or less you can pick up a used SS10X42 or $320 new and it will blow both of the bushnells out of the water.

I went backwards from what you're doing, I got a bolt action .270 first.
I'm pretty darn happy, I can get .5 holes at 700 yards in a vice.
Oh, but my AR is an SPR Tackdriver build, so I need to get some friends who have coyotes living around their property.
Also, I just sold my AR-10 for 135% of what I paid for it to a good friend who's moving soon. Woohoo.
If you like hunting, or live out in the country, definitely think about investing in one. They're mighty accurate.

135% WTF? Nice salesmanship. Yeah, I am pretty set on getting it, but I want the heavy barreled one. Preferalbly the varmint version. just not sure about the optics anymore though. Probably still a bushnell before I become filthy rich.

Thought about getting one of the 700s too in 308 except it would be the SPS DM(detachable mag) model. Would be slick to have a round holder/zipper pocket on the stock to hold extra rounds and a mag in the pocket

thats the nice thing about the super sniper, its cheap so you can save for something REALLY nice, and once you do buy something really nice you can either A. have a nice scope to put on another rifle or use as a backup, or B. sell it and recoop most of your $$ as they dont lose much value and if you buy a used one from the start you can sell it and not lose a dime. the 6" longer barrel in the remington barrel isnt even going to gain you 30FPS, and the weight and length it adds certainly isnt worth it. the 20" also doubles nicely as a hunting rifle, it can be easily carried through the woods and brush, the extra 6" seems like feet to me when toting it around.

cut the BS right now, you and I both know that isn't going to happen, thats world record grouping right there and is only going to happen once in a blue moon too.
