Glock vs XD, my first impressions

I have a Glock 22 (full sized .40) and an XD9-sc. Here's my first impressions of the differences between the two. I'm going to intentionally avoid things like shooting characteristics because it's not a good comparison when they're different calibers AND different sized guns.

1) Finish on the slide. Right off the bat, the finish on the glock seems SO much nicer than the XD. Maybe the XD finish is just as tough but it sure doesn't "feel" like it.

2) Trigger. I have an aftermarket trigger connector on my Glock so this may not be a fair comparison. Though it should be noted an aftermarket Glock connector is $10 while a "Trigger kit" for the XD is like $100+ which is total bull ****. Anyways, the trigger pull on my glock is dramatically more crisp with less over travel and much less distance for the reset.

3) Weight. I didn't even bother looking at the weight before buying the XD but it amazes me that my full sized glock actually weighs less than my subcompact XD. That's insane.

4) Magazine capacity. This isn't a comparison between my two guns, but between the XD9-sc and the Glock 9mm subcompact. The XD holds 30% more rounds. That's a clear and undeniable win for the XD.

5) Grip safety. I didn't think I would give a crap about this, but the few times I've done something like tuck my XD under my mattress or something I definitely feel more comfortable knowing I'm less likely to have an AD with the grip safety.

6) Striker status indicator. I don't really see the point of this. Under no circumstances is there going to be a round in the chamber but the gun not be "cocked". The Glock doesn't have this and I think that's best. One less hole in my gun for stuff to get into.

7) Loaded chamber indicator. The glock one sucks in comparison to the XD. I just double-checked it in relatively low light and I seriously could not tell that the Glock had a round in the chamber at all. With the XD it's much more clear.

So far I would say if it weren't for the 3 extra rounds in the XD I would probably trade it in for a Glock. The only thing I'd really miss in practice is the grip safety. In some of my dry fire exercises (quick draws) I haven't properly engaged the safety... That would suck in a SD scenario.

I've got a few purchases coming up before I circle back around to pistols but when I do I will probably strongly consider going the M&P route or another glock.

Hope this helps someone considering these two pistols.

that stuff can really mess up one's thought processes.

The OP fell out-of-love rather quickly based on the info they posted above versus what they posted less than a month ago:

So I guess the expected response to this post by any self-respecting XD fan is to rabidly defend it against the Glock because one is better and the other simply must acknowlege it?
I mean really, if we could pass a congressional edict that declared once and forevermore that Glock handguns are the best ever produced and stated that all other polymers are simply cheap knockoffs, and then we ban all other guns from being sold in this country and everyone trades in all other guns they already own for Glocks would Glock fans be happy then? Is that what they want?
Could Glock fans then stand on the mountain of inferior guns filling the landfills of this great land, which we would naturally change to the United Glocks of America, and raise their self-satisfied faces to the rising sun filled with smug pride, and declare their final, ultimate victory?
It's like people that argue musical taste, as if there's a roster of acceptable music that only the most discerning hipster is privy to and to like anything else makes you an uninformed loser.
Give it up man, no one in their right mind would deny Glock's are great guns, it's just a shame that for some that precludes appreciating anything else.
Better get busy, if you're spreading the word you'll have to hit the CZ boards, and the 1911 boards, the Kimber boards, oh, and good luck on the Sig boards, you might wanna start out on the High Point boards, those will be easy kills.

Seems like a fair appraisal to me. Go with what works for your comfort zone.
After owning both the G-19 and the HS2000 (fair comparison), I would lean slightly toward the Glock.
