He makes one good point though. What is the purpose of the striker indicator? Since you can't have a round in the chamber without the gun being cocked, what's the point??? The chamber indicator accomplishes the same thing. When the tab is up, it's loaded and cocked.
Somebody please explain this.

I think the Striker Indicator also can alert you to any problems with the striker.
Hey! I own a Glock 19. It shoots extremely well. However, I like the grips safety, and the contours of the XD better in .45 ACP, plus that thumb safety had me at "thumb safety".
As to accuracy? The XD45 came out the box, not even broken in, shooting better than my Glock 21. I can cover a whole mag at 25 yards with my hand, standing, not at a bench. Couldn't do that with the Glock 21's HUGE grip!
It's preference. Plan, and simple. That being said, I love XD's. And right now? I'm hating the only safety on a Glock being it's effin' trigger. I do not want an AD. So I'm living with a weapon that is REALLY accurate, but I'm not sure about it's safety.
No... I'm not selling it, I'm contemplating building a holster for it that remedies my concerns.

When i do some dry fire i have it cocked with out a round in the chamber. Seeing that little silver dot makes me think twice. Its also easier to spot when you have it holstered.

I have a "few" of each and like all of them, but on my side right now is a G26 because i can carry it the best, i have spent alot of dough on holsters for my XD's but have not found one that i really like, on the other hand i have three for my G26 and all work well, i don't feel the Glock is better but for me and my build i can conceal it better, as for the home my XD45 w/ns gets the nod,too big for me to carry but 14rds of 45 guards the house.........

The striker indicator was meant to be a no visual check. YOu can feel the little nub in the dark and know your gun is cocked.
For me, the difference comes in handling and shootability.
Glocks felt wierd in the hand and I didn't shoot them very well.
My Xd-45 felt natural right away, and the first time shooting it I got 13 hits at 10 yards. The Xd is the only hand gun I have ever been able to do this with.
Glocks came out and ruled for a while. Now there are other poly guns that can give it a run for it's money.
I think the "better gun" argument is more or less subjective and personal to the individual shooter.

The raised tab on the slide does the same thing. You can feel that and know it has around in the chamber, meaning it's cocked and ready to rock.

I'm also a fricken' airhead when it comes to remembering to put the safety on. With the grip safety, it's always on until I need to fire the gun. I like that.
Another thing I like is the fact that I can carry 17 rounds loaded in my XD9SC (with my current extended mags) ... 'cause I'm also not the best shot when under duress.
IMHO

those mags make it heavier and therefore IMO easier to get back on target. Thats why I like da/sa pistols and thats what I carry.

If you have a falure to fire, I could see the point.

crossbreeds they cover up the trigger with hard plastic and they have leather between you and the gun.
For me the best gun I shot out of the box was a 4" colt 1911 with full beavertail, target sights that had a 2.2 lb trigger pull. Second was a glock 24 with 400 bucks in mods. I don't like strikers personal preference, so I just bought a 1911, now if I had realized how short the grip really is, I would have bought a full grip, 4" slide, and carried it... woops. its maybe 15% larger than my sig P6 I carry every day.

ok marginal benefit, but not in a firefight so I don't really buy it.

I think both brands (SA & Glock) are very good companies. When I bought my XD, I was looking at Glocks as well. For me, I bought the XD due mainly to the extra weight. The Glock was so light it felt wierd. I, against what most people say, shoot my M&Pc and my brohters G26 better than my XD. Dont know why. I do like the grip safety, however sometimes I wish it wasnt there. I sometimes think what will happen if I only have a split second to grab my gun and fire one shot and I dont have my hand perfectly on the grip.
My next gun is going to be a Glock though. I want a woods gun. I can get a 6 inch barrel for the G20 and load it up with 16 rounds of DT ammo that has over 850 ft. lbs. of energy. 15 rounds on hand for each reload. Plus I dont have to worry about disengaging the safety. No XD can say that. Dont get me wrong though. I'm not buying it because its a Glock, but because the gun matches my needs.
