Yeah, when I bought my XD a few years ago i was $425 + tax and fees. It sucks because the low cost was one of the major selling points for the XD.
Personally, I'd look for a well used G19. I've seen them in my area in the mid to high 300s.
Glocks have a very good warranty.
You've seen the pictures and thread from the guy that bought a rusted shut Glock right?

Best I could do for mine was $530 after transfer. I could've gotten one for $499 but then tax and cost of gas to drive 2.5hrs would've made it over $550. I could've gotten the OD green for $520 OTD but I just wasn't 100% set on the color.
I did see a used 19 at Cabelas a while ago with adjustable rear sight for $425 and it was in pretty good condition but I think it had the 10round mags.
I would think if you looked around enough you should be able to get a good 19 used for $430 with 2 - 15 round mags so long as the rest of it is stock.

A buddy just bought a G19 with night sights and 3 mags for $599+ tax
No night sights and 2 mags = $499.00

Cabelas has the G19 new for $509, and if you apply for their credit card they'll knock off $50 more. So $459 new. I thought that was pretty good, so I got myself the G17, same price.
