Are glocks' chambers still unsupported?
Because I was checking out my new glock 19 and it looked really good. So I got out the XD and compared it. I took some pics.
The XD still looked better, but I don't really consider the glock to be "unsupported". What do you guys think?

Has glock made improvements over the years?

And isn't the reason for glocks "unsupport" to make the gun more reliable with different types of ammo. How did the XD get such a reliable gun with so much support?

I've read numerous times about their unsupported chambers, but this one looks pretty good. I definitely don't think there would be any problems reusing the brass.

But then again I'm no pro, so I just wanted some opinions. And the pictures did come out nice
The one on the left is the XD.

I believe it was just the Glock in 40 that had most of the problems. And usually with reloads, or lead bullets.

Yep, only the .40 has problems. Here's some pics of other .40 cal handgun chambers to compare...

One of the guys at the steel matches shoots a glock 35 .40 and he reloads all his ammo with lead. I think he shoots his brass like 10 times before tossing it.

Less supported led to faster firing, but less tolerance for weak brass, the new glocks are more supported but still a little less than everything else. I'd say they are safe now, but the possibliity of injury with a double charge is higher in polymer handguns and much higher in a glock because of the less supported chamber.

Correction: the problem with Glock unsupported chambers WAS with the 40s but with shooting lead bullets or questionable re-loads.

With SAAMI spec, normal factory jacketed 40 loads...the 40 caliber Glocks run well for thousands of rounds. I have one made in 1994 that is still 1005 safe and reliable and running along fine with no signs of giving up anytime soon.

Both of mine are still unsupported
just as they came from the factory.

Meaning a G22 and a G27. Both have
all three flavors of barrels however.

Your new Glock 19 has a supported chamber. Can't say whether the older generation 19s are or not --- I haven't looked at any.
