That gun would be sweet with a nice set of grips on it.... The factory Mark III grips are like holding a deck of cards. Now my Mark III fells as good as my XD.

What method did you use for grinding the factory grips off? I've been contemplating doing this for a few months now, as I would just LOVE to put some 1911 grips on it, but the fear of destroying the frame is pretty deep in my mind. It only comes with one frame you know, lol.

I use a dremel tool just go slow and you'll be fine. It really isn't very hard. Some people use a hand grinder others a file.

Went out and bought a BSA red dot today. I don't like it so it's going back. What would you suggest I put on this gun to make it look good and function good? Imputs welcome and appreciated

Here's what I put on my Ruger MKIII that I bought at our local gun show for $35.00. It's not bad.

It's not bad given the price. It's help me attain my sites during bullseye competition (25 yards) and I've pushed ~4,550 rounds using Federal, Winchester, and CCI. It does not like Remington ammo.

Here's some pictures of my MKIII with the AIM red dot (hope this helps):
