Gunsmithing question Mossberg

I have a Mossberg 500A shotgun and got a new follower. I can't get the magazine tube off. I have used strap wrenches and even drilled a 1" hole in a 2X4 cut it in half and clamped it around the barrel. It won't budge. Even tried to warm the action and squirt it with CLP. Any suggestions?

The magazine tubes on nearly ALL pump actions are incredibly hard to get off. The main idea- don't take it off, you don't need to at all. Just unscrew the barrel nut like you are taking the barrel off. Then pull the metal tab in the tube- it'll take the spring, plug, and follower out (use pliers to pull the metal tab if you have to, sometimes it's stiff). You do NOT need to remove the magazine tube for anything that you'll ever do to the shotgun.
