Best way to shorten shotgun barrel?

OK folks, beyond the obvious "hack saw"........any input on the best way to shorten the barrel on my Rem. 870 pumb. I got the gun about 45 yrs. ago on my 16th birthday and want to convert it to a Home Defense gun. Your ideas?

Pipe cutter, band saw, etc...

cut it but be sure to keep it at least 1/2 inch above legal.

I'd say just use a hacksaw but be sure to have a file and some different grits of sandpaper on hand to make it look decent when you are done.

Just buy a shorter barrel. Then you have 2 guns in one! They're easy to change and if you decide to sell, could be a major selling point.

Chop saw with a metal blade is what my Gunsmith uses.

Chopsaw is best bet, bandsaw with a fence is #2.

Keep the end square no matter how you do it.

A large reamer can be used to clean up the muzzle after the cut.
(Or garnet paper, files, stones or whatever, it's not a benchrest gun, it's a shotty, keep that in mind.
Just don't make it look like Red Green did it!)
