I need money for a haircut!
I hope this is okay. I emailed through the contact us page and never got a response so here I go. I am running out of time so I figured I would try it out and hopefully I wont get banned.
Hey guys thanks for looking...
Heres the deal. I will be shaving my head for St. Bladricks this year on March 12, 2010. If you are not sure what the foundation does I will explain it very simply. They shave volunteers heads in order to raise money for pediatric cancer research and treatment. In our case its a team of volunteers that happen to be Firefighters and LEO's. This will be my first time doing this and I have set a goal of $500.00 They told me I will never make my goal my first year and I intend to prove them wrong with your guys help. So essentially I am asking you to pay for my haircut. As always every little bit helps. I will take anything you can spare in these tough economic times. I have created a page on their site where I have posted before and when the time comes after pics. It is very convenient to donate, you can actualy do it right from my page. I would like to thank you guys ahead of time and wish you the best.

I received this from a sponsor and past recipient of St. Baldricks...
This is what makes it all worthwhile
Can you believe it? We are 4 WEEKS away from our forth annual St. Baldrick's event! If this is your first event, WELCOME and thanks for being a part of our celebration. For those of you that are coming back for more, welcome home! It's nice to have you back.
Below you will find some words from Kelly Ramljak, one of our speakers from last year's event.
"Hi, my name is Kelly and I was diagnosed with ALL when I was 12 years old. I am currently 13 years in remission. When I was diagnosed in 1997 at Children's Memorial Hospital I had no idea what I was about to face. I struggled through 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy. I was in and out of the hospital for chemo and fevers about every other week for the first year. Then for the last 1 1/2 years I took pills and shots at home. Through all of this it was hard to stay focus and get through it but I was a tough kid. Now I am currently a Pediatric Oncology Nurse at Children's Memorial Hospital where I was treated. I see how much of a difference there is in the care of children with cancer. Now many kids are treated out patient and are having shorter hospital stays. All the research is providing these children with newer treatment combinations that prevents nausea and other side-effects from treatment. Research has definitely come along way in 13 years and it will keep improving until we can find a cure!
Every day I take care of kids and I think of how much a difference I am making in their lives. I would not be here today if it weren't for all of the donations and research that helps extend the lives of children with cancer. So thank you for all that you do!"

This is why we are all part of this event...
A few quick items...
- We are having a contest between all of our shavee teams. Who can have the most funds raised online by the night of the event? The winning team will be presented with a trophy that evening. Let's see if you can hold the title for next year too!
Here are our top three teams:
1. The Kojacks $1985.00
2. The Woodsman $1370
3. Team Michelle $1344
- ALL shavees must raise a minimum of $50.
- ONLINE donations are the fastest, most cost effective way to raise funds. Send out your emails and attach your personal UPDATED (with a few of your personal words and a before photo) page to all of your sponsors.
- CHECKS can be mailed directly into the foundation to this address:
St. Baldrick's Foundation
1333 S. Mayflower Avenue, Suite 400
Monrovia, CA. 91016-5268
- CASH can be entered online and it will be posted to your total (beefing up your personal and team totals!) OR you can bring the cash in the night of the event with all of the proper paperwork filled out for EACH and EVERY donation.
I am currently at 435.00 out of my goal of 500.00 and hoping the kind hearts here at XDTalk could help me help these kids!
