Question DIAS vs FA M-16 issues

I have been considering getting a FA weapon and figured the RDIAS would be the easiest way to go as I have several M4 carbines. However, I also have a DD M4 carbine that has a Geissele Super 3 Gun trigger in it. Will the RDIAS work with this setup or will I have to buy a Geissele Super Select Fire (SSF) trigger?

I called John at Geissele Automatics and he didn't think my S3G trigger group would work with the RDIAS because it doesn't have a M-16 hammer. Does the RDIAS require me to retrofit all my carbines to have M-16 fire control parts?

Also can I just buy a few Geissele SSF and put in in all my carbines without running afoul of the NFA so long as I'm in possession of the RDIAS?

Okay, did some looking around and figured out that I need a M-16 trigger group and a few other parts to make the RDIAS go bbrrrpp. So the the most poignant question is can I leave all the M-16 fire control parts in my AR-15's without running afoul of the NFA?

I assume that an AR-15 with M16 Fire Control parts will never fire FA without the RDIAS, but the ATF seems to have some strange ideas about all this. So do I constantly have to move the parts around with the RDIAS to be on the legal side?

Actually, a lightning link is the easiest and coincidentally, the least expensive.

The only things you need to get them to work is a reciever with a low shelf and old SP1 style carrier, and of course, the link/paddle.

No M16 fire control parts required.

Down side of lightning link is without modification it's full auto only. Modded with full auto fire control group it's select fire. The BAFTE considers any host gun without the RDIAS to be a machine gun if it has m16 fire control parts. Be careful. You can write the tech dept for a clearer answer if they say it's ok at least you would have that for the court when they charge you with constructive intent. I wouldn't chance it. Just move the trigger group when you move the RDIAS or link.

If you want select fire (safe, semi, full), then yes, you would need to use modified M16 and AR15 fire controls in the host gun, but you wouldn't want to leave them installed without the link and it would be better to move them with the link to other receivers.

But without modification to regular AR15 parts while using the lightning link, you get safe and full auto and use your trigger finger and brain to determine how many rounds are fired (or not), effectively making it select fire with no M16 fire control parts needed.

But if one were so inclined, here is a quick video that shows the basic process of using modified fire control parts with the lightning link to achieve safe, semi, and full (note that it still is not capable of 3 round burst and the only thing you are achieving with the mod is single shot semi-auto again)

Maybe it's just me but I can't manage singles on a full auto M16. Doubles and triples I can do but I guess I'm not fast enough for singles.

Nice video

Looks like the RDIAS will be the way to go as I could use the lightning link, but I'm afraid to let my family use it.
