New sub $500 5.56 can coming out this year

A new all stainless construction and user serviceable can is coming out in the next few months. The K baffles interlock to form a full stainless core inside the stainless tube. Standard and metric thread patterns are available, and can be swapped to run on an AR and 5.45 AK. The best part about this can is that you can safely fire .22LR and other rimfire calibers through it. I've shot this on an AR and it is definitely hearing safe. Check out the video. 5.56 and 5.45 are shot through at the end.

It's Hollywood quiet on a rimfire. A pellet gun is louder.

I basically posted this same comment as I was watching the video.

Your camera was blanking out the audio the first few milliseconds after the shot was fired, which was making it sound quieter.

The camera must be utilizing an automatic gain that limits the sound. If you listen for it, you can tell it's quieter when the shot is first fired.

Not that you were misleading anyone, because on most camera's, that is a built in "feature", but that's why it's so hard to judge what a silencer really sounds like by watching a video youtube.

Even taking that into consideration, it sounds decent.

I agree that the video doesn't do it justice, and it's unfortunate that the camera limits the audio. I took some training courses over the weekend and used this can on some low light drills. Here's a video.

Armed Dynamics - Defensive Rifle 1: Low light shoot from cover and charge threats

You will likely notice that the AR with the Kestrel 5.56 is much quieter than the G19 I transition to towards the end of the drill, even with the gain limit on the camera.

I'm going to risk $75 and get the attachment that let's me use an oil filter for multiple calibers. I'm planning on using it for my nightstand G17, using a Lonewolf barrel. Sure do hate paying that $200, but what the heck?

Be pretty difficult using the irons wouldn't it? With an oil filter screwed onto the barrel, you'll be restricted to instinctive shooting.

Have you seen the pop bottle thread adapter? You could mount, 16 ounce, 20 ounce or 2 liter bottles

@ inside-my-house distances, I won't be worried about the sights! I also have a Carver Hunter Mount with a micro red dot attached that'd clear the oil filter. I'm just not ready to spend even $500 for something that probably costs less than $50 to build.
